Very Nice, I have been admiring your work for some time now.
jstoner says: Dec 4, 2008. 1:17 PM
Beautiful, yes. Not an instructable, yes. I generally would say an instructable should enable an unskilled but careful person to replicate your results. If you don't want to go to all the work to connect the dots, link out to other helpful sites. One other thought: this would be even more cool with LEDs. Add some animated patterns, and I'd almost have to make one for myself.

Linking to this tatted necklace (instructive) instructables slideshow might be a good explanation for tatting:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Tatted-Necklace/
jstoner says: Dec 4, 2008. 2:21 PM
True, that is helpful, though I'd say that ible needs work too. And this project uses wires to create a 3D shape, which is particularly cool, and not documented in that other ible. I'd really hate to see the content of Instructables slide this way... I recommend some editorial intervention.
fungus amungus says: Dec 4, 2008. 2:28 PM
The slideshow feature is intended to provide a space for people to show off things that they have made. As such, this fits in just fine. If it's cool, then encourage the maker to post instructions if she or he makes it again.

Appears that I'm not alone in the opinion, a slide show doesn't an instructable make. Slide shows and video are fine as value added content to an instructable. IMO an instructable shouldn't make one to hunt around for instructions or wait, until the creator of a slide show gets around to making another project. Anyway the finished project in the slide show looks great. Much sexier that heavy make up and, flashy jewelry. I'm guessing there are many mother and, grandmother out there wishing they where still young enough to pull off wearing these. Perhaps there are some who can, but do they have the guts to do it?

Wow, thanks everyone! I posted the slideshow after I won a 3rd place in the Halloween contest I heard about on etsy. I never imagined I'd get so much attention. I shall be back with more! Yes, both pieces are tatted w/size 10 thread, the mask take a couple of days to complete.

I'm a tatter and would love to be able to get a pattern for this piece, this would be perfect for Hallowe'en next year. Are you willing to share? :)
TotusMel (author) says: Dec 4, 2008. 4:14 PM
I'm going to 'try' to work up an instructable for the mask in the near future, might be after the holidays though.

Instructable = INSTRUCtions to make us ABLE to do the project.

Did I miss them? I see the project... which looks lovely... but I don't see the steps to make it. Was there a link I missed or another page?

Wow, that's gorgeous! Add my vote to the "please post full instructions" crowd. Do you have an Etsy store? I'd love to get a link to your other projects for sale there, too. (And yes, posting links to your Etsy store is both allowed and encouraged!)

Gorgeous! I love it! I have been wanting to learn to tat. If you write up a pattern, I will definitely have to learn tatting. Have a great day!

The mask and choker are the most beautiful tatted items I have ever seen. I tat using a needle - I imagine you use a shuttle? I look forward to seeing your Instructable and trying my hand at making it/them.
