Introduction: Teatime Tassies

About: I'm a freshman in high school with a passion for anything that tastes good or looks amazing. If it's difficult, really cool, or just looks fun you can bet I will do it.

Teatime tassies are a new recipe that I recently discovered. The recipe is one by my great aunt Lois and resembles a miniature pecan pie. I like it because it satisfies my sweet tooth but also has enough substance to it that I don't crave more. It is fairly labor intensive for what is essentially a cookie though so keep that in mind before you start.

Step 1: Ingredients

You will need the following.

The Crust:

6 oz cream cheese

2 c flour

1 c butter

The Filling:

1 1/2 c brown sugar

2 Tb soft butter

2 eggs

2 t vanilla

1 c pecans (chopped finely)

Step 2: The Crust

Cream the butter, cream cheese and flour in a bowl. Then, shape it into a ball and chill in the refrigerator for an hour.

Step 3: The Filling

While the dough is chilling, chop the pecans finely. Then mix half of  the pecans with the brown sugar (half will go on top as a topping). Crack the eggs over the mixture. Once those are beaten in, add the softened butter.

Step 4: Shaping and Filling the Tassies

Shape the dough into 1 inch balls (the recipe claims that  it makes four dozen but how you can get above two is beyond me). Press them into a muffin pan. Then, pour in the filling and  sprinkle pecans on top.

Step 5: Baking

Bake at 350o for 15-17 minutes and then at 250o for 10 minutes. Cool before removing from pan.

Step 6: Serving Suggestions

I recommend having these with a nice hot cup of tea or lion's milk.
