Picture of Teen Wolf Costume
C:\Users\mike\Pictures\2007-11-01\002.JPG
The head honcho of my work is a big fan of Halloween and encourages everyone to dress up in a costume on Halloween. This year (2007) I decided I would go as Teen Wolf.

About five or six years back, I went as an Ape from the original Planet of the Apes (you know, the one with Heston). I bought a latex appliance from www.ScreamTeam.com. I liked the outcome of the costume, so I decided to use their "Beast" appliance to make me look more Teen Wolfish.

This one didn't come out too bad, so I thought I'd post the process here.

Step 1: Jacket

Picture of Jacket
You may have noticed the jacket Michael J. Fox is wearing on the movie posters and DVD cover is red, however, the one he actually wears in the movie is blue.

I luckily found a letter jacket on eBay for $20 that was about my size. It was a pretty close match to the one Fox wore in the movie.

I ordered a 7 inch Chenille Letter "B" in royal blue on black felt on light gold felt. I don't remember where I got it, but you can google chenille letter for lots of options. Expect to pay around $20.

I used 3m Super 77 spray adhesive and sprayed the back of the letter. I then attached it to the jacket. I did this primarily to hold it in place while I ran it through my wife's sewing machine to keep the letter from coming off.

where can i find the mask?
mp2526 (author)  frodriguez83 years ago
Doesn't look like the one used is still available, it was a Beauty and the Beast style mask (like the old TV show with Linda Hamilton, I think), but check out the site, http://www.screamteam.com/products.php, maybe they have something similar.
I have never worked with Liquid Latex, about how much did you need to complete the mask? Also how long did it take you to complete the mask?

It didn't take much since I was basically just using it to glue the hair in. I think I bought a 5 ounce bottle and didn't use it all.

If I remember correctly, it only took me a night or two to glue the hair, since I waited for each layer to dry before I added the next.

I'm not one to comment often, but this is seriously awesome, if there was an award for being awesome, you would get it.

Can you please help me out and point me in the right direction for the right wig to purchase and how to attach it to my head? Thanks, Ted
mp2526 (author)  gruberted5 years ago
sorry, I got it off of eBay a long time ago. I don't remember who I purchased it from. It was just a long straight brown woman's wig. I just cut some of the length off the back and used it for the facial hair. The wig should fit most head sizes. You can just slip it over you existing hair as long as it's not too long.
Is there an email can contact you at? I would like some help on some of the other parts and your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again, Ted Gruber gruberted@gmail.com

i was wondering if you had any pics of the back?i want to know how far the hair goes and if you used two wigs as well
mp2526 (author)  tonto31855 years ago
Sorry no pics of the back. The hair go a little bit beyond my shoulders. Maybe a couple of inches. I used one long wig. I cut some length of of it and used the excess hair for the facial hair.

Brilliant work can you tell me where you got your wolf ears from?
mp2526 (author)  Bobby19785 years ago
Hmmm...I having a hard time remembering, but I think I bought them at a local party supply store (Party Pig in Austin, TX). They are just latex pointy ear tips, not the whole ear. You just glue them to your ears with spirit gum.

Yes, very well done. The Walkman finishes it nicely. Did you ride to work on the top of an ol cube van??
mp2526 (author)  bustedit6 years ago
Thanks. I wish I had a panel van. I have a four door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and I totally wanted to put a mannequin dressed up like teen wolf and doing a hand stand on it's head on the roof of my jeep and but Wolf Mobile on the sides and drive it to work...but, I didn't get to it.

as a kid my fav part was when he went to the liquor store and demanded a keg of beer in his wolf voice. i thought someday when i'm older I too can go into a liquor store...and maybe buy something. i also thought i would be ferris bueller in hi school, but that never happened either
