video Torsion Catapult
This is my latest and so far most sucsessful catapult. It launches a chunk of wood about 20 feet.

Nice and simple design. I don't get it why people complain about this not being an instructable. Or maybe it's just us medieval geeks seeing these things more clearly :D

I would love to hear some step by steps on how you made it.

this isn't much of an instructable
Schooniedude (author) in reply to unclelarJun 29, 2010. 2:43 PM

Schooniedude (author) in reply to unclelarJun 30, 2010. 8:42 AM
have you seen how many other videos and slideshows there are on here? this site is also about showing off what you made or showing how you made it as well as constuctive critisism, so i suggest if you are going to putdown other people's hard work, do it on another site
antioch in reply to SchooniedudeJun 19, 2012. 5:15 PM
You're right, it's also about showing off. The keyword is 'also'. You're just showing off, and nothing else. Next thing you're justifying yourself by hiding behind the poor failures who are doing the same. And to top it all off, you accuse everyone criticising you of being destructive and want to send them aay to other sites.
Just how much of a loudmouthed hypocrite can you possibly be?

Until you're able to put up an instructible with substance and content that people can actually constructively criticize you are the one that needs to do this pointless showing off on other sites. Youtube would be best for you, although you would be unable to handle the real trolls there.

Yes part of this site is about showing off but it is also about showing others interested in the item how to make it. I agree with you

Was that aimed at me?

blade97 says: Nov 9, 2010. 12:33 AM
where can you get some of that other than a hay bale
daoki in reply to blade97Mar 21, 2011. 1:07 AM
You could use the twine used for kite strings. I've got a ballista (a twin-spring torsion engine) that uses that stuff. It works pretty well.

This looks pretty simple yet powerful. I'd love to make this for my boys - do you have a step by step?

That looks more like a torsion catapult, than a tension catapult, to me...
Schooniedude (author) in reply to jdegeJun 30, 2010. 8:38 AM
oh i see... thanks
jdege in reply to SchooniedudeJun 30, 2010. 4:54 PM
Looks like a simple, but effective design. What did you use for the skein?
Schooniedude (author) in reply to jdegeJun 30, 2010. 4:55 PM
nylon string from bails of pinestraw
