Introduction: Text Message From the Future

So, perhaps you're wondering what to do as your future self, once the future has set itself in motion and time travel has become readily available.  You'll need to find a hip way to give a quick "hello" to your former self, while still being incognito and avoiding the crushing of any butterflies.  (I don't know where that reference is from, but I'll still use it.)

By completing the last step in this Instructable, this has become a synchronicity and an important recollection of history for me.  You will see what I mean, when You read the below info and connect it to the last step.  *Ahhhh...so fulfilled!*

BUT, in reality, I have no idea how this happened.  This is just a fun way for me to catalog the event that occurred in my life, in hopes that I will be able to look back on this on our 10th year Wedding Anniversary and maybe decode the meaning behind it.

What happened?  I got a text message from the future.  No joke.  One night, I got a text message back in 2008, with nothing in the message area.  No subject, no message.  But there was a phone number that the text came from, with my same area code.  I replied and asked what the blank message was supposed to be.  The response I got was another blank message, dated the SAME.  2019.  That's the year of the text.  I was verrrrry intrigued, so I called up the number and I got the whole "this # not in service" recording.

Having gotten these crazy texts and knowing that my phone would either clear the message out, or switching my sim card could lose it...I decided to photograph it.  I believe it was days later that I actually took the pics.  But still....text messages from the future!?!? HOW?  I made sure to google the phenomenon to a great extent and found no similar happenings.  This made me wonder even more, and yet...no where to go with it.  Maybe you guys can help me solve this mystery!! (I haven't googled this in the last 3 years, lol.)

The ironic bit (other than the fact that it came ten years in advance...actually...11 years in advance?), is that it's dated on our 10th Wedding Anniversary.  We were nowhere near engaged when I got this text, I had known my husband for nine months at that time.  Maybe a year or so later, when we got engaged, we had set the date for 10-10-10.  My parents asked us why we were waiting over a year to get married and offered to pay for the wedding if we got hitched before the year's end.  So we said sure!  The only weekend available at our venue, in December, was on the 6th.  12-06-09 was our wedding date.  Not planned, it just happened.

A few months after our new date was set, one of the groomsmen saw the photo of my futuristic text message and pointed out that it was our wedding date!  Our 10 year anniversary, to be exact.  I was bewildered.  Sooooooo weirrrrrrrrd!  And yet, so cool.  We didn't plan on this date what-so-ever, it just fell into place and I didn't connect the dots with that text message until someone else pointed it out.  Insane!
------------
PS, I blacked out the phone number because I called it yesterday and it now belongs to an angry and paranoid woman who can't give me any info because she doesn't know me.  Fair.  I don't know her either.  But when she gave me attitude, I said "Hey lady, YOU texted me..." hahaha.  Then she told me that it's not a cell phone.  I googled it, turns out to be a verizon lan-line.

Step 1: Get to the Future!

I guess you'll just have to wait for the future to get here, then it will be the present.  By that time, perhaps there will be a mode of time travel available and you'll be able to hop back to the past and jack a phone line to send a quick text, and leave no tracks because the line didn't belong to anyone at the time.

Step 2: Time Travel

Be swift and careful, you know yourself the best...so just pick a simple way to say hello or to peak your interest without giving anything away or over-doing it.

By doing this, you will be leaving an imprint that is not going to change much at the time, and yet it will go down in your personal history.  Therefore, it becomes a successful way of hinting at greater things.  Peak your own interest enough to hold it in the back of your mind without turning crazy.

Step 3: Tips in Time

One cool thing to do is to use numbers.  Numbers are what make up time travel, correct?  WIthout a linear measure of time, no one would know or care about recording things.  Or it would be much more difficult, at least.

Play with the numbers that are important to your future self that will become relevent to your past self in a matter of time.  These are the synchronicities that will help you connect the dots as things unfold in your life.  As you move in that linear direction, things will begin to fall into place.  Your only job is to create, emphasize and recognize these events.

Step 4: Success

Being that you've managed to zoom into the future, or that you've managed to reach it naturally, and jetted back into time to leave your imprint.  I would deem that a success.  Currently, I cannot provide any useful information on the process, experience or even hints at what this may mean...but, being my current self, the one set in the past-present (in terms of the linear measure of my receipt of this future text message), I can just tell you that my future self may have done something cute.

For all I know, it may not even be me that is sent this future text.  Maybe it was someone wishing me a happy anniversary?  In about 9 years, I'll be able to come back to this post and comment on it.  Perhaps I'll even be able to attach some new photos as time develops.

UPDATE:  Holy crap.  I was just a kid when I saw this movie, and I went to YouTube to find a cool ending for my post...and look what I found.  My answer.  WOWWWWWWWWWWW.   Thiiiss is why my text message is blank.  Ah, this is poetry.  Instructables, thank you for being part of my past, present and future.  Without you, these current dots wouldn't have been connected.  I am happy.  :D

PS...oddly enough, this is the only clip of this scene and it's only on YouTube because a kid, which I actually know (my mom's friend's kid), pointed to his junk.  Soooooo odd.
