Introduction: Thanksgiving Turkey Pie

About: Just a guy who likes doing random arts n crafts whenever I can. I hope to get my own website up someday on DIY arts n crafts and whatnot, but for now, it's pretty cool to even be doing this. I am going to real…

Hey guys this is a Thanksgiving Turkey Pie...Which just basically means it's a pie made up of the basic Thanksgiving dinner sides.

We originally made this for Thanksgiving one year instead of having so many different side dishes. We made all the dished and put them together to create mini turkey pies for everyone.

We bought Mini Pie pans to make individual servings and was actually fun to make and eat in the end.

Because I did this last minute I just substituted the min pie pan with a muffin tray.

Hope you guys enjoy it! :)

Step 1: Ingredients

The Side dishes I used in the pie are shown in the picture below. (I tried to save a little bit from each dish before they were all gone)

A dinner roll
Green Bean Hot dish (casserole)
Clam and cranberry stuffings
Roast Turkey (white and dark pieces)
Turkey Gravy
Cranberry Salsa (If you would like the recipe let me know! it's mainly diced cranberries and jalepeno, very easy!)
Garlic Mashed potato's in a small zip lock bag
Mini Pie pans (or in my case a muffin tray)

Pam spray

Step 2: Crust

The first thing I did was to spray the pie pan, or in this case the muffin tray with pam spray. Or you can coat it lightly with some olive oil.

Then because the muffin tray is smaller I sliced the bread in half and placed each one brown side down.
When we used the pie pan, one side fit in the bottom and we cut the other piece into four. We then took the four pieces and placed it along the outside of the middle piece forming a pie crust.

Once we placed the dinner roll in the bottom of the tray we pushed it down with a spoon to make it a little more flat.

This allows for more room for the fillings.

Step 3: Layer 1-Stuffing

Next I spooned in a layer of the clam n cranberry stuffing. Which of course you can use any type of stuffing that you like. This just happened to be the one we made.

Also take the spoon and flatten it out a little bit.

Here is an optional step which  I tried this time.

I preheated the oven to 350. I put the pies in the oven at this point for a total of 8 minutes. I figured I would try to crisp up the stuffing and the crust a little bit before I put on the heavier layers.

I found it allowed for the stuffing to get crispy which made for a nice effect once the pie was complete.

Once again it isn't mandatory the pie will taste just fine without doing this step.

Step 4: 2nd Layer- White Turkey

Once the stuffing and crust was firmed up a bit I then diced my white pieces of turkey and layered them on top of the stuffing.

Step 5: 3rd Layer- Green Bean Hotdish (casserole)

Next I added a layer of the Green Bean Hotdish.

Here I added in that same step as before. I decided to place the tray back in the over for about 5 minutes to get the fried onions to get crispy.

This is not a needed step. It did add crunch to the dish but overall it is much easier to just put the pie together and back one time through rather then mini steps of baking in between.

Step 6: 4th Layer-Dark Turkey Pieces

Now here is where I diced up my dark pieces to create the fourth layer on top.

Step 7: Potato in a Bag?

For my final layer, I place the Garlic Mashed potato's in a small plastic zip lock bag.

I then cut a small corner off on one of the edges. This will allow us to add the potato's on top as if we were going to pipette it.

It's a fun way to make the pies look nice.

Step 8: Final Layer-Garlic Potatos

Here is the potatos on top!

Step 9: Oven Time!

I then placed the pie in the oven and baked the pies for about 15 minutes, checking on the pies at ten minutes then again five minutes later.

After the 15 minutes were up i broiled the pies on high for about 8 minutes.

This allowed the potato's to form a nice crispy layer. I also found it brought much more of the flavour out as well.

Step 10: Cooling Time!

I then let the pies cool for about 5 minutes before removing them from the tray.

I used a spatula to run around the sides of the pie, making it easier to take out.

Of course if you are using pie pans there is no need to remove them.

Step 11: Toppings-1

I then added the turkey gravy to the top of the pie. Trying to make a fun little decoration with it.

Step 12: Topping-2

I then diced my left over turkey pieces and added them as sprinkles.

Step 13: Final Topping!

For the final topping I used the Cranberry Salsa!

It was much needed because it added a sweetness and a tang to the pie.

Well there it is, the Thanksgiving Turkey Pie. It's also a great way to get rid of leftovers!

I hope you guys enjoy it and please feel free to leave me any comments on how to improve it! thanks! :)
