Introduction: The Best Mac Apps
This instructable is an on-going guide for Mac users who are looking for the best of the best free applications that they can use exculsively on their sex machine (Mac Product).

Step 1: Adium
Adium is a free messaging application made specifically for Mac OSX. It's not only compatable with Microsoft Messenger accounts, but also AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, XMPP, Mobile Me, Bonjour, Myspace IM, Live Journal Talk, Facebook Chat, Lotus Sametime, Novell Groupwise, QQ, Gadu-gadu, and a few more that aren't listed on the Adium website. I'm sure you're probably not going to use all of those, or even know what half of them are. The great thing about Adium is that everything about it is customizable, from the contacts window, to the emoticon sets, to the message window styles, all downloadable for free on the official Adium webpage. Unfortunately, it does not have webcam capabilities.

Step 2: Diamond & Name Gener8er
These are the two best applications for writers.
Diamond
Diamond is an extremely simple text app with an easy to use interface. It has a plain grey window (resizable), and you can begin typing right away. Instead of a scroll bar, you simply drag you mouse along the bottom off the window to side-scroll, as if you were reading a book. At the bottom left corner of the app, there's both a word count, and character count.

NameGener8er
NameGener8er does exactly what it says it does, it generates names. You can adjust the obscurity of names, how many names you want displayed, and whether they're male or female.

Step 3: OpenOffice
A free version of Microsoft Office for Mac

Step 4: Burn
.....Baby burn.
Burn is an applcation that takes files and burns them onto CD-Rs, DVD-Rs, CD-RWs, etc. It converts videos to DVD format (either PAL or NTSC), then burns them onto discs. It can burn Audio, Video, and Data.

Step 5: SWF & FLV Player

If you know what an iDisk, Dropbox is a free alternative. All you have to do it download the file, sign up, and you're ready to share files all across the world with whoever you desire. Or maybe you just need a place to hide somethings....

Step 7: Handbrake
Handbrake is an app that transfers the audio and video from a DVD to you computer, converting it to a designated format (mp4 for iPods).

Step 8: Vuze
Vuze is a torrent downloader, but more. Instead of checking mininova or demoniod or any other torrent site for the torrent file, Vuze searches through whatever websites you want for the torrents that match your search criteria. Simply click on the link and it shows you the download page, then hit the download button and Vuze starts to download it. Remember, torrent's aren't illegal, but the contents can be. I've gotten a couple emails from my internet service provider about that. Download Vuze here.

A very simple add-on that shows you every application you have when you hit a specified combination of keys. Download here.
Step 10: MacBook Exclusive Apps
Ah, finally, a few applications that were made for the MacBook. I myself own a 2GHz aluminum unibody MacBook, and I'm very happy with it. Except for the lack of back-lit keys. If I had known I could have got those, I would have.
First, is iAlertU. This is basically a car alarm for your MacBook. You can set the preferences to detect movement, key strokes, or even trackpad use. It's armed and disarmed by your Apple Remote. And the best part is, you can set iAlertU to take a picture of whoever tries to use your laptop once it's armed with the built-in iSight camera, and it will also email the picture to you. Next, MacSaber. Pretty useless, but funny. It uses the MacBook's motion sensor to make lightsaber noises. Yeah, I know, awesome. Download it here.
Third, there is Liquidmac. Again, useless, but cool. It uses the MacBook's motion sensor to make a fake tank with liquid in it. Basically, you move it around for no apparent reason. Download it here.
Lastly, for now, there's SmackSpaces. With Spaces (possibly the best feature of Leopard) enabled, SmackSpaces allows you to use the motion sensor on your MacBook to change the space you're using simply by smacking the side of your laptop. Don't turn it on in the car, it's really annoying. Download here.

Step 12: Boxee
Boxee is a great open-source media viewer. Unfortunately, it's still in the Alpha stage of development, and you need an account to get it. On the other hand, the account setup is free. Boxee can also be installed on the AppleTV to let you view almost if not all video formats on your TV.
