Introduction: The Cat Lady

I ran across a cat shirt at Goodwill and thought it would be hilarious to dress up as a cat lady for Halloween. Later on, my sister and I were at Goodwill again, and she found this cat vest. It was purrrfect!! I mean, woven cats on upholstery fabric with a smooth satin back? We were in cat heaven! I hope you laugh as much as I have!

Items you'll need:

  • Cat lady clothes
    • Oversized turtle neck and elastic pants, both dark colored (so the cat hair you attach can be easily seen)
    • Orthopedic tennis shoes
    • Eye glasses & cat-themed jewelry
  • Plush cats
  • Pillow
  • Oversized belt
  • Safety pins
  • Spray adhesive

Step 1: Attach Cat Hair!

Spray each article of dark clothing with adhesive, then tear out some hair from a plush cat and apply it all over. Or...if you have an inside pet that sheds, you can put on your clothes and roll around on the rug. But seriously, gross!!

Step 2: Attach Plush Cats and Pillow

Use safety pins to attach plush cats all over your outfit. Before you put your pants on, wrap a pillow around your waist and secure it with the oversized belt. Finish the outfit by fluffing your hair, wearing an old pair of glasses, and adding any other cat-themed jewelry.

For a Halloween costume duo, you could bring a date who is carrying baseball bats ("Bat" man), so together you are Cat Lady and Bat-Man. Now that would be totally pawsome.

The only thing I would add would be a cat box scoop tucked into a back pocket and a little bag of Pounce treats! Thanks for the smile!

Nice! I was thinking of carrying some krispy rice cereal in a pan, with plops of melted chocolate dumped on top to look like kitty litter, but thought it would be too gross- plus, I was running out of hands :) I like your idea better!

Hahaha! Thank you so much! It's basically the best overlay I've ever done ;) As soon as I faded my curly hair and cat pin just right, I knew it was golden!! I hope you try out the costume sometime!

Oh my, you had me rolling with this!

Your costume looks disturbingly similar to what several of my relatives look like . . . every day.
