The Coffee Cup Coffee Table

The Coffee Cup Coffee Table
I have been a long time follower of Instructables and have just now gotten around to becoming a member. This is my first Instructable so cut me some slack :).

The Coffee Cup Coffee table

I love drinking coffee, but hate making a huge carbon footprint. So what better way to use my old coffee cups than for a coffee table? It's a win win situation.  I have created a simple design for a table and I should have one built myself within a year.  And, yes, it is architecturally plausible to build a table from coffee cups.

Step 1Materials

Materials
Materials:
- 365 of the same type of coffee cups (one a day for a year!)
- glass cover piece (optional)
-super glue or some other type of adhesive ( I use super glue because I know it will work)
- Cardboard (or some type of flat base.)
-Measuring tape or ruler
-long straight edge (such as a yard stick)

I think it might work better as a small side table. Also, you should have actual images, it helps more. :)

leave him be. if you don't believe his "theory" instructable will work, why don't you make an instructable on how a coffee cup coffee table using his method will not work, why, and how to improve INSTEAD of bashing him because he laid out a perfectly good "theory". His point seems to me to be a very plausible idea on how to recycle coffee cups. Which unless your an almighty know-it-all, YOU learned something new or got a new idea flowing through your head by reading his instructable. I myself have not made an instructable because it is a lot of work to document and write out instructions, however, due to the nature of this (mostly) wonderful community there is less that zero need to harass anyone for their attempt (or success) at writing their own instructable regardless of how long you've belonged or how many instructables you've written. Good job algar. Don't stop writing instructables because some people don't like your effort as there is ten fold the amount of people who appreciate your effort.

 This looks like a theory.

What  I mean is that the table looks like a picture floating in the air.

So, since you did not actually *make* this, it is still just theory.

Sorry.
May 14, 2010. 11:27 AMjovino says:
Trolling? Really?

You need to chill on your defensive stance. Your project is still only theory because you did not actually build it.
May 14, 2010. 10:22 PMjovino says:
I doubt you have a very clear idea of what a troll is.

And, who exactly is "we?"
May 17, 2010. 2:33 PMjovino says:
There you go throwing out that "troll" comment again! You might want to take into consideration that I just called it like I see it: a theory. And if that is trolling, then you really need to reevaluate whether you belong on Instructables or not -- especially if you can't take a little criticism.

I've been on this site since 2006 and I'm most certainly older than you are, so take that for what it's worth.

Good luck with your theories. ;)

It is not a theory.
Dictionary.com defines "Theory" as an untested idea or opinion. The same formation of cups have been used to build other things, so it has been tested an been proven to work.

haha, sorry, I read so many 'ibles a day I must have gone into skim mode. It teaches me a lesson, so it's all good.
May 14, 2010. 11:46 AMNinzerbean says:
Maybe you might want to change the title of your 'ible to "An idea for a coffee cup table". That may save people the confusion about this 'ible.

Awsome idea!!

If i drank coffee and had a house to put the table in, I'd sooooo make one!

from a engineering aspect it would work just fine. I would just like to see some pics of you building it (no offence). any way this would be a good way to recycle all thous cups, I have seen some people that use that many cups (or go to starbucks) in about one month to make something like this. anyway awsome idea.
