Introduction: The Cube of Curiosity (with Manual Tilt Sensor)
Attachments
Step 1: Things Needed
Most of these things will be available even on the garage, where I found out these.
Basics:
1) A firm and small box. cardboard and plastic recommended, and you can also decorate them.
2) Two LEDs. ( One with multi color and another one with white is purely recommended.)
3)battery(s). I always use my trustworthy 9v battery.
4) wires. to connect everything.
Tilt Sensor:
1) A small spring. It can be found even on clickable ballpoint pens.
2) A large bead for the weight above the spring
3) copper wire. (that is the wire without insulation.)
4) bendable steel wire.
Tools: optional.
1) sticky tape or duct tape,
2) stapler
3) sugru, or modelling clay
4) solid battery connecting plugs.
And now we're ready to go.
Step 2: Making the Part of Tilt Sensor.
Step 3: Making the Circuit
first, connect the wires from the plug into the multi color LED. then from the first LED, connect the positive (+) to the second LED, and negative/ground(-) in the spring. then spin the copper wire touching the spring (the spring conducts electricity) all over the bead.
also spin the copper wire on the bendable steel wire from top to bottom especially on the circle. and connect that to the ground/negative(-) of the LED.
Step 4: Assembling the Circuit Into the Cube.
First, mount the battery on a place with tape. Now from the plug, connect the first LED to the edge of the box. from the led, keep sugru or modelling clay on another edge in the way that the bead is inside the circle but not touching it. from there, connect the second LED to the roof of the cube, where it can be seen above. now plug it to the battery and test wether the whole thing is working.
Step 5: Finishing
You can paint your favorite designs on the box, and poke some holes on all the sides, so that the light will be visible as dots like stars.
then the cover the flooring full of wires with another piece of cardboard. now plug it in, and your curiosity cube is ready.
enjoy with it. If you liked this instructable, please vote this.
