Introduction: The Electromagnet

An electromagnet is a temporary magnet. It is  very useful since it can be put on or off when we want to.

Step 1: The Items

The things used are: iron nail
2.Plain copper wire
3.A 9V battery
4.Alligator clips

That is all you need!

Step 2: Winding the Wire

Wind the wire on the nail. Each turn has to be close to the other. More the turns the more powerful the magnet. Leave a little length of wire before you start. And leave a little after you end.

Step 3: Connecting the Source

Connect one end of the battery to one end of the wire. Then the other end to the other end. You can add a switch if you want.

Step 4: The End

That's all. Use it to attract iron nails.

What is the equation determining the amount of force the magnet can take before it breaks into amount of voltage a battery has?
