Step 1: Cutting Out the Dark Side

 1. Print off Kylo Ren (above)
 2. Spray 3M adhesive of on the back of it
 3. Press it against the piece of 3/4" plywood
 4. Using a jig saw cut out Kylo Ren

Step 2: Cutting Out the Force and Base

 1. Cut out a 8" (point to point) Hexagon out of 3/4" plywood
 2. Cut out a 11" x 7" rectangle out of 3/4" plywood
 3. This is where you can route the edges of the base and force to give it a more futuristic look

Step 3: Drilling Holes for the Connection and Knife Slots

 1. Cut a square roughly 0.3" into the back of the Force hexagon, dead center
 2. Cut out the slits for the knives by first drilling several holes in a line with a tiny drill bit
 3. Using a razor, slice the uncut plywood between the drilled holes
 4. Clean out the razored cuts with a file
 5. Once the slit is large enough, fit a jigsaw blade inside and finish cutting out the slit for the knife
 6. Clean up up the slits with a file and make sure the knives fit snug

Step 4: Sand Everything and Paint

 • Give everything a good sand with 120 grit paper
 • Brush all of the dust away
 • Apply a primer coat, leaving the edges of the plywood unpainted
 • Follow the primer up with 2 coats of high gloss black, also leaving the edges of the plywood unpainted

Step 5: Assemble the Force

 1. Mark where the Kylo Ren will be standing
 2. Pre-drill two holes into the base where the feet were for screws to go into them
 3. On the underside of the base, drill a counter sink hole
 4. Screw Kylo Ren to the base from the underside.
 5. Rub some glue into the hole that was drilled in the dark side
 6. Slide the dark side onto the end of Kylo's hand and clamp in place

Step 6: Sealing the Deal

 1. Apply two coats of Polyurethane for a nice sheen and sweet finish to the plywood!

Step 7: The Force Awakens

You now have a really sweet looking knife block that you can show off to your family and friends, and be super proud of!

I think that you should modify it so that he's using the force instead if using a shield.

I know! I was trying to think of a way that made the knifes look like they were being held by the force but doing that and trying to hold them firmly was a tough task to tackle. So I opted to try and make the "shield" look like what we would perceive the force to be if we could see it :)

Plexiglass!!

Omg I know! After I made it, I was like, I shoulda used my 1/4" polycarbonate instead. Would be wayyyyy cooler. Knife block Part 2??

How on earth did you cut the holes for the knifes? Look sharp?

Cutting the holes for the knives was a bit tedious but a good learning experience. I used a tiny 1/16" bit and drilled a few holes in a straight line. Then i used a razor blad to cut away between the holes, then I used a file to file away the inside to make a straight slit. Then I pushed the jigsaw blade through the hole I made and cut the rest of the slit.

I thought this was one of the more tedious steps. I guess you should add that step above since otherwise people might start throwing knifes to get them stuck xD

Hahah good point, I will add that :) Thanks for the tip
