The Ice-Worm Cocktail

Step 6Extra effects

Here's some stuff to do if you want to fool someone gullible and/or inebriated, or if you're just a good showman...

Freeze a gummi worm by dropping it in liquid nitrogen for a few minutes. Retrieve with tongs. It will start to collect hoarfrost and gently steam; it's a good prop, if a very fragile one. With some good patter, you might make some of the punters think that ice-worms make drinks boil if you drop them in. Probably easier with a rubber worm, though!

If you don't wait too long, you can toss it on a hard surface and it will shatter in a most satisfying way. It will regain its squishiness on warming, and is just as tasty as ever.

I'm probably off making something. Most likely a sandwich.
