"MI MACHETE".DIY "MACHETE".

Templed by Sun and Rain and left as useless , it was waiting for someone who could back it to live  Blast Wood and make some Big Noise.
Aint a cool Intro…?
If you google "Machete" you´ll find a pic of an Old Badass Texican…that’s not the one that I´m going to talk about…I´m talking about that Tool that many of us have used since medieval times.
While  researching for this project I realized that Media show the Machete as an Instrument of Terror used by violent people, but don’t emphasize in the uses as Tool that many people gave it.
So as a tribute to this Noble Tool; I´ll show you how I made my own Machete for my wood working projects.

Si buscas machete en google encontraras a un veterano mexicano de muy malas Pulgas…de el no vamos a hablar Hoy…voy a hablar de esa herramienta tan útil que muchos hemos usado y otros se mueren por usar.
En el transcurso de la investigación para este proyecto me di cuenta que los medios muestran las atrocidades que mucha gente ha hecho con esta noble herramienta y no enfatizan en las utilidades que muchas culturas le han dado y le seguirán dando al Machete.
Así que decidí hacerle un tributo al instrumento que muchas manos empuñaron para luchar por la Libertad de nuestros pueblos y que nos permitieron poder ir a otros lejanos países lejos de nuestras raíces y así terminar fregando pisos y desempeñar Labores mal vistas para los ojos de Otros, (Afortunadamente no es mi caso)bueno ese no era el fin pero así resultaron las cosas…no es así….?.
He dicho…

1 meter x 10 cms x 3mm Rusted Steel Sheet. Tempered by the weather Conditions.
3 mts paracord.
Piece of leather.
Leather needle if you dont have one use a clip.Aguja para cuero si no la tienes, usa un Clip.
Lamina de Acero Forjada y templada por las condiciones meteorológicas y ambientales.
Rounded File. Lima Redonda.
Drill.Taladro
Angle Grinder. Pulidora.
Buck Knife.Mikaela.. Navaja Patecabra.
Forge. Optional. Forja o Fragua. Opcional
C Clamp. Prensa en C.
Vise. Prensa.

el trabajo con el machete esta excelente, si me permites una recomendación yo le cambiaría el cuero con que cosiste el estuche por hilo encerado, el que se usa para coser zapatos, eso sera sin duda mucho mas resistente a los elementos. Saludos

Yeah well you were close if not right on with most things but unfortunetly you spelled my wrong. You spelled it mi and it is accually spelled my. Most of the errors I wouldn't have noticed if I hadnt been paying attention.

It is for this same reason you never want to wear gloves while using an angle grinder. If a glove gets caught you will suffer far greater injuries then if you just cut yourself with the grinder. Additionally id say that the most important way to avoid hurting yourself with an angle grinder is to securly clamp your workpiece and use both hands on the tool. This will keep your precious digits out of the line of fire.

On another note I love this instructable. I am an amateur bladesmith and love seeing what others are doing.

Amateur bladesmith, yes.... but im a professional in the stone industry and have done plenty to know what im talking about.

I use a 4.5" angle grinder at least 10 times a day. I worked for a while in a shop and on two separate occasions saw incidents that resulted in major injuries to multiple fingers from wearing gloves and them getting caught in the spinning blade of an angle grinder.

I am not discounting the wearing of gloves in other applications. Just while cutting or using a grinder. For example I would reccomend wearing gloves whenever you are sharpening a knife or wrapping a handle or any time sharp things are involved. Also when welding or plasma cutting or using a torch or brasing.

f one wants to wear gloves the only ones I would suggest are the thickest, tightest leather gloves you can find. You want them to not be loose at all, also the tighter the glove the more control and dexterity you have which reduces the chance of injury.

Ok...Im agreed thickest and tightest ones are the best...In fact youre right ...a cousin of mine loose three fingers cause wearing biiig f___ng Gloves.(I saw that and was so Sad...)thats why i enfasize the value of Safety.
Im just saying that rookies could read that dont wear Gloves and they dont..so they can injuried themselves...Thnks to help to clarify your comment...

A flat leaf spring is good stock to make a machette blade.
