In this fun, entertaining project, you will learn about how plants always follow the sun and grow towards light. You can build mazes and race friends to see whose plant exits the maze first! This project is very cheap and takes about 5 minutes to build, so its great to build with students and children!

Step 1: Materials

You will need...

* A large cardboard box or piece of cardboard
* A fast-growing plant
* Water (for the plant)

Tools

* Scissors
* Hot Glue Gun (with glue)

Step 2: Step 1:

Step 1: Cut out a piece of cardboard that is 1'3"x 9"

Step 2: Cut three inch squares off of the corners. (see picture)

Step 3: Step 3:

Step 3: Fold up the sides and hot glue them up.(see picture)

Step 4: Cut out different size pieces of cardboard.(Must be 3" wide and no longer than 9")

Step 4: Step 5:

Step 5: Cut a 3 inch gap at the bottom of your "box" so the plant can enter.

Step 6: Start gluing the Cardboard pieces in to form a maze similar to the one shown in the picture. Don't make it too complex or the plant may not be able to handle it.

Step 5: Step 7:

Step 7: Cut another piece of cardboard, this time 1'x6".

Step 8: Tape it onto the box, but only tape it by the top part so you can open and close it, using the tape as a hinge.

Step 6:

Step 9: Make two stands for your maze. The height of your stands depends on the height of your pot as you can see above. Make your stands by folding a piece of cardboard into a triangle, gluing it together, and the gluing it onto your maze.

Step 10: Put your plant under the entrance, and get as many leaves and stems as you can into the maze.

Step 7: Enjoy!

Water your plant at healthy intervals, and have fun racing through your very own plant maze! For best results, put into a sunny place and let your plant grow. You can check your plants progress by simply opening the flap and looking at your plant. Enjoy!

I just planted my bean plant yesterday, so I don't have a picture of my plant going through the maze. In the picture is what your plant should look like. (I just picked the dandelions and put them in dirt)
