The Super Top Secret Bunker Project Video

video The Super Top Secret Bunker Project Video
OK Seriously no photos without my hat unless you write for Nip Tuck and this is the firstest ever video I have made so the editing isn't much the shots of the main floor are blurred to Make my wife happy since the Internet is evil and this was filmed with a Hacked DXG-506V meaning I soldered and pigtail with a female minijack so I could use an external microphone.

I'm just Winging it here so if you can think of a way to interest one of those Reality Shows that are so common these day's please let me know.

This Video has been brought to you by the Number Nine and the Letter J.

be well,
mike

How are you these days?

I'm totally impressed with the attention to detail and forethought this shows.
Mar 28, 2008. 12:15 AMFull Frontal Graphic says:
That's exactly what I mean by attention to detail and forethought. If you write a book, I will buy a copy for everyone I know, just to get them thinking in a new direction. We would be 'living in the future' already if we weren't senselessly wasting resources on things that don't move us forward, and only drag us back. Is there a way to 'subscribe' to a given member's contributions?

You know, if you're going to go to this much trouble you should at least pump the sand through a sluice to recover precious metals too. Might help you pay for the overall project.

I'll subscribe to whatever you have.

Could maybe use like a toilet float with switch to control the input water pump to keep a constant level.
Mar 29, 2008. 3:16 PMFull Frontal Graphic says:
Yep, I get that. I meant maybe some sort of on/off electrical remote switch (actuated by rising or falling water level) to turn on the lake pump or off as needed. So you can just keep shoveling into a pit with a constant water level. If there is no priming issue with the pump. Your technique reminds me of the old adage about working smarter instead of working harder. You sure seem to be productive.

I have a Flygt (model name is 'Ready') electric submersible pump I've pumped really sandy water with, (basically digging by making mud with a high pressure nozzle -- digging out the roots of a largish tree that needed to be gone completely from my garden and pumping it away, but I have more sandy soil, no clay...) I was picturing a similar pump. Apparently yours is gas-powered (?) and no way to control it remotely with a switch (?) ... so how are you going to balance water in and water out to keep from flooding, running out of water, or climbing out of the bunker to go tend the lake pump? I'm really happy with and surprised at the performance of the Flygt pump, by the way. I've totally abused it and it has held up well. I think the particular model I have wouldn't lift high enough for your purpose though. I get 20 feet or so out of it.

I like the idea of a passive drain, just as you mentioned, so that there is no possibility of flooding and no need to watch out for water down there... just good design principles... an electrically actuated valve might be the cheapest way, yes, good idea, I was also thinking that another solution might be (if the scrounging led you this way) to set up a tank (did you mention a swimming pool in the yard?) or containment in the yard somewhere... pump water to the tank (could be even a bunch of haybales forming a tub, lined with plastic, or outdoor pool liner) to keep it filled, overflow arranged to return to the lake, and use gravity to let the water run downhill to your pit, as incoming water... ...etc. I'm sure you are already way ahead as my experience with those with the gift of 'attention deficit' leads me to believe. Interested to see how it works out.

If you really needed a hand with something I wouldn't mind helping you out, but really I'm kinda too busy for a job... and the commute to your place from Los Angeles would be pretty tough. But now that I think of it, I work with video a lot and I know you are looking to get your story out there, and maybe if you had some ready-made segments, episodes sorta, you might have better luck getting a broadcaster (or webcaster) interested. Maybe we might work out some kinda collaboration in a few months. I'm kinda 'hammered flat' until midsummer, but it might be that we could brainstorm up something along the lines of a television series or similar. Maybe a documentary... I have occasional access to video gear, cameras, steadicam, tripods and the like, and I'm typing this on an editing workstation in my home.
