The first modification was to increase the voltage to the motor. More voltage with available amperage means a faster spinning motor. Faster motor means more rounds down range, or into a co-workers face, as the case may be.
The Nerf Vulcan EBF-25 starts with a requirement for 6 D-Cell batteries. That's an expensive number of big cells. When wired, they yield about 9v.
To connect the battery packs to the gun, we actually had to make a little tool. The power terminals are too deep inside the gun to clip on the alligator clips, so I took apart a ball point pen, slit up the side, put a compressed alligator clip in it with the lead hanging out the slit. I put the alligator clip on the battery terminal and then pushed a tie-wrap (or chopstick) through the back of the pen, slipping the alligator clip out and hooking it on to the power terminals. it worked like a charm.

couldn't you just cut the thing open, do your surgery on the power terminals, then put the thing back together?

seems simpler to me than making a tool.

just a thought.

If you've ever tried to open up a Vulcan, you'd know why it was easier to make the tool. Namely, the up to six inch deep screw wells, as well as the VERY breakable thin plastic parts inside it.

I meant use a cutoff wheel to open it up, and a little superglue or epoxy to put it back together.

I found it to be much easier simply to hollow out the existing battery tray, then solder directly to the terminals of that... you're left with a tray that's easy to slide into place and one you can transfer to a different gun if you should happen to mess up lol

i just pulled the wires out through a hole i cut into the casing and wired the male rc connectors together like they did the batteries into that removed the little button in the ammo feed and taped the batteries together so i could plug them both in and charge them properly
