For this instructable I want to share what I believe is the best way to cook that life giving breakfast meat, BACON.
Now if you are reading this I think it safe to assume that you have at least a mild attraction to bacon. The smell of it cooking can be the only reason to get out of bed some days. The last piece has started long running feuds. That crispy, salty meat has the ability to make lesser foods acceptable when wrapper in it. But there is one problem. Someone has to cook it. That means pans to scrub after cooking and grease burns. Pretty sure that is where the old saying, “don’t cook in the nude” comes from. But there is a better way.
In this instructable I am going to demonstrate how and why I cook bacon with that odd little appliance that everyone has and isn’t sure why. The George Foreman Grill.
This little grill is perfectly suited to cooking bacon. It cooks from two sides which equals faster bacon. Its covered, so the risk of grease burns in gone. For those of us that prefer our bacon to be flat, this has you covered. The grease runs into the little dish at the end which makes saving it for something else much easier. And lastly the cleanup, the George Foreman Grill is non-stick so a quick wipe with a wet sponge is all it needs.
Step 1: Find Bacon
Pretty strait forward. Find bacon, thick cut is best.
Step 2: Cut Bacon
This step may not be necessary for the larger grills, but my grills is pretty small so I cut my bacon it half to fit.
Step 3: Cook Bacon
Place the bacon on the hot grill and close. I have found anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes is good. It depends on how crispy you like it. Flipping isn't necessary but I do it anyway... to feel like I'm helping.
Step 4: Remove Bacon
When the time is up or you just can't wait anymore, remove the bacon and devour.
Step 5: Clean Up
Pretty easy to clean up. Do as you will with the leftover grease and give the grill a quick wipe down with a wet sponge.
