Introduction: The Lamp of Mrs. Steam

A couple of weeks ago, I found a great tube bulb. It is 50cm long and has a central plug to mount it in a special holder.
I was infected by the idea of having a dimmer on the top of the lamp.

Here is the step by step instructable how to build such a lamp.

Have fun.

Step 1: The Parts

You need:
  • Some pieces of plywood
  • Some cabling
  • A dimmer modul
  • Some connectors
  • A mains plug and a mains cable
  • Some brass parts
  • Some screws and nuts
  • A mains switch

Step 2: Building the Stand

I glued some pieces of woof together for the top of the case.
Than I drilled the hole for the switch

After this I cut the inner part of the stand to have some room for the cabling.

Then I glued the top to the inner part and prepared the buttom plate.

Step 3: The Lamp and Dimmer Holder

I cut two round pieces of wood for the top of the case
Than I cut a round piece into two parts
I cut the inner part of one wooden pieces for the stand
(Picture one and two)

Than I glued the round pieces on top of the stand
After this I drilled the mounting holes and teh hole for the dimmer.

At least i mounted the poti for the dimmer and mounted the parts together.

Step 4: The Cabling

The cabling is easy:

From the mains switch to the dimmer module.
From the module to the lamp holder.

Have fun :-)
