Third Beginner Crochet Project: Increase/Decrease Square

 by enuscher
Welcome to my next tutorial where you learn how to increase and decrease your stitches (number of "v"s). This is a crucial skill to learn in order to make anything change its form and to do more than straight edges. The difference from the past squares is that you start and end in a corner, instead of straight sides, as shown in picture.

Awesome square! I wouldn't think it would turn out so, well, square! I have a question tho, I never really understood, when you say chain 3 like you did in the beginning, does that mean you should see 3 stitches or is the 3rd on the hook?

It means that there are three stitches (or "v"s) in the chain. The yarn on the hook is referred to as a "loop" and the "v"s are referred to as stitches. Good question :)

Nice way to demonstrate increasing and decreasing, the square looks really cool.
