Ok, this is my first instructable (kind of), so please, constructive critisism only.
There were no instructables on how to make a paper batarang, so i decided to go off and make one myself, and so here it is.

now for all the stuff about telling you guys not to go and poke someone's eye out, please use this with some common sense, as it can seriously hurt someone. This has cut up plants when I have thrown it (accidentally). So now in big letters: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY HARM THAT COMES FROM USING/BUILDING THIS PAPER BATARANG THINGY, PLEASE USE YOUR OWN COMMON SENSE WHILE USING THIS OBJECT. Now that im done with that, I must say that using "batarang thingy" did not sound right in that sentence.

Step 1: #1) Supplies:

Ok here is what you will need to make one of these things,

- two pieces of letter sized paper (preferably already made into paper claws)
- a roll of duct tape
- scissors
- stapler (optional)
- hands and fingers (including opposable thumbs)
- the ability to read and follow directions

Step 2: #2) Assembling the Batarang Thingy

#1) Take the two paper claws and open up one of the finger holes a little bit and press the other one together
#2) Put the closed finger hole into the opened finger hole until it fits snugly.
#3) Staple it on the middle triangle thing.

Note: use one of those paper pro staplers or one of them that go bang when you push down with one finger for best results. (Stapling is not absolutely necessary.)

Step 3: #3) Wrapping It All Up

Now here is the hard part, follow the directions very closely. try to make the whole thing flat as possible now, as in squeeze the air out of it when you tape it. and make it look neat.

#1) take a 3.5 inch piece of tape and tape it from the hypotenuse of the right traingle in the middle straight downwards.make the top part of the tape go a little bit onto the other side. make this peice of tape very tight.(pic 1)
#2) Cut down the middle of the piece of tape hanging off.(pic 2)
#3) Take one half of the tape and wrap it around the 'leg' of the batarang and make sure to not get any wrinkles at the turns (when it goes from one side to the other).(pics 3&4).
#4) Do the same for the other half of tape.(pic 5)
#5) Do steps 1-4 on the other side of the batarang.(pic 6)
#6) take a 6 inch piece of tape and start from the little edge of paper that is left on the side of the claw and go towards the edge and off the edge and keep wrapping like in step 3.(pics 7-10)
#7) When you get to something like the 10th pic then cut out the outer corner like in the 11th pic (save this corner!).then fold (12th pic), then fold the top flap down (13th pic)
#8) do steps 6&7 for the other side (14th pic)
#9) use the corners that you cut off to cover the little bare triangles.(15th pic)
#10) repeat steps 1-5 (sorry forgot about pic).
#11) (im getting tired of this) take small peices of tape and wrap them around the ends and let a little bit hang off to pad the corners.(16th pic)
#12) if you didnt get one word of this then just cover up the whole thing and do # 11.

Step 4: #4) Finished With the Batarang!

your finished!

Step 5: How to Throw

Hold the batarang from the point and hold it in such a way that your hand is bent back a little, and the other point is touching your wrist. (so its like an arch coming out of your bent wrist) and throw with a flicjing motion, but form the outside of your body. (unlike a frisbee, where the palm of you hand is closer to the forearm but then when you flick it gets farther from your forearm, the flick should start with the back of your hand closer to the forearm but then getting farther away from it.) if you hold it with the other point (the one your not holding) away from your forearm, it will be a long ranged high throw, (I think). overhand throws may also be considered.

Step 6:

how to make a mini paper batarang:

use all of the above tools and methods except size down all the measurements by the same proportion (e.g. instead of letter sized, used a size that is proportionally 1/2 of a letter sized sheet (4.25x5.5), instead of 6 inch ppiece of tape, use 3 inch, instead of whole width of tape, use 1/2 the width, etc.)

i find the one made out of a 3:4 scale makes the best batarang (8.25x6.375" sheet of paper, everything else scaled down 3/4 of the way)
