I would say Iron Man got steampunk'd.

By the way, love this thing. i would call it professional steampunk, because it is not over the top but very believable.

i believe that those are actually Nixie tubes! they are neon filled numbers pretty much, like 7 segment displays. not made anymore though, unfortunately :(

I was clicking through the pictures and was thinking "It needs a Iris to cover it when not in use." Then I got to the last pictures and went "Oh It does!"

Absolutely Fantastic!!!
I have the urge to run around my city wearing this and my trench coat and carrying around a steampunk rifle and acting like a time traveling bounty hunter or something.
:)

I fully expect to see a clone of this on the next season of Warehouse 13.
TheGreatS says: Aug 14, 2011. 12:45 PM
I would not be suprised, but I thought they already have a time machine?
CatTrampoline says: Aug 14, 2011. 2:59 PM
They do, but not a wearable one. If I remember correctly, it also has time of insertion limitations - you get sucked back to the present after 21 hours or something (yeah, I know I could google for the specific details). Some other bad-guy character might also need a time machine. You can never have too many cool gadgets.

"You can never have too many cool gadgets" that's for sure. Thanks for the clarification though.

Plus it only transmits your consciousness, you aren't able to bring things with you. (plus it broke at the end of the episode and, like you said, its kind of big)
tjk94 says: Aug 12, 2011. 1:08 PM
that would be awesome (now they just have to explain what "fix the fish" means)
Lorddrake says: Sep 7, 2011. 3:07 PM
so is this a front and back chest piece or did you make 2 different plates so they can be swapped out for variety
itsjustdoc says: Sep 3, 2011. 6:42 PM
But how do you do it, man? HOW?
steampunker_de (author) says: Sep 4, 2011. 9:04 AM
hey, the pictures should explain itself. but if you have any special questions, please ask and i will try to answer...

greetings,
alex

dude where did you get those parts? that is so awesome.
steampunker_de (author) says: Aug 25, 2011. 8:59 AM
all parts are from flea-markets, caritas-market or from ebay. the copper plate base is a shield from an old wall-lamp...
magnaryu says: Aug 21, 2011. 9:19 AM
Awesome. Can we say this could also be the basis for a Steampunk Iron Man Armor :D
steampunker_de (author) says: Aug 25, 2011. 8:57 AM
would be possible! ;o)

How does it tell time?

What is the blue round thing?
steampunker_de (author) says: Aug 11, 2011. 11:40 PM
its an plasma-disk. it works with batteries and reacts on sound. blue flashes crossing over the surface of the disk. looks amazing in the dark.
ZoDo says: Aug 11, 2011. 6:07 AM
Amazing. Could you provide more informations about what exactly you used and where to get it?
steampunker_de (author) says: Aug 11, 2011. 7:14 AM
the copper back was an old wall-lamp and i got one pair on fleamarket. the brass bullseye i got from ebay (three different sizes). But it´s difficult toi get because mostly they are very expensive. the barometer i used from an old fire-backpack and the smaller pieces are taken from an old typewriter.

The heart in the middle is an plasma-gadet, normaly used for belts. it works with batteries and reacts on sound. This item you can get in every electronic store or on ebay (where i got this from). the most rarly thing is the diaphragm, the iris. its made from steel and very old and big. I got some iris lenses from an optic-store. but normally they are expensive and hard to get...
