Toaster Oven Reflow Soldering (BGA)

Step 2 Get a thermometer and timer.

Even though the toaster oven has a temperature set point and an integrated timer, you still want to get some more accuracte readings. Get a cheap oven thermometer and toss it inside the oven and get a timer with an alarm to remind you to check on your baking PCBs.

curious why you're not using the temp. probe from the timer? also, that plastic box and timer should get really hot on top of the oven.

I had done all my calibrations based on the analog thermometer before I ever bought the digital timer, but yeah, you should be able to use the temp probe for the same purpose. Also, the timer would typically wander around with me in my pocket as I worked on other things.
