Tried soldering with a really old one once, plugged it in and after 30 minutes of waiting for it to heat up, the "bit" fell out when I picked it up. Jumped around like a frigging squirrel trying to get it off me.
I had the exact same problem with a cheapo weller - (this one), the tip is friction fitted into the iron. At least the cheapo elenco has a screw to hold the tip in place.
What I hate most about burning myself is the second where you hear your skin burn, but it doesn't yet hurt. But if you douse it with water immediately (and keep it under water for several minutes) it isn't that bad.

What, exactly, reminds you, the sizzle sizzle or the desire to have more ;->
