Step 2: Glow in the Dark Ice Cubes - Brusspup

Make glowing liquid easily by using tonic water that contains quinine.

Quinine is a chemical that reacts to UV light.

Tonic water can be found at almost any grocery store and it's cheap to buy.

The more black lights you add the more the tonic water will glow.

You can make ice-cubes with tonic water and use it for your drinks.

You can also make glowing decorative shapes.

It's a simple and fun experiment. Give it a try!

Step 6: Chemical BBQ Ignition - NurdRage

Warning: This video is for educational and entertainment purposes only and not actually meant to be repeated. The reaction is an extreme fire hazard and fire safety protocols must be in place.

First, the charcoal is placed in the barbecue and a paper bag is used to hold the charcoal in-place.

Now normally charcoal is started with some lighter fluid, but as a chemist, I'm going to use a mixture of 250 grams potassium chlorate and 50 grams sugar.

This mixture is added on top of the charcoal.

The potassium chlorate is a powerful oxidant that provides oxygen directly to the reaction mixture.

The sugar and charcoal is the fuel. This will burn very hot and our charcoal started.

The mixture is then lit with a flame. For greater safety it is recommend this step be performed with a match on a long stick or a fuse is used.

The potassium chlorate and sugar mixture should burn extremely hot within 15 seconds and ignite the charcoal. Leave the pile of charcoal as is and give it about 10 to 20 minutes to get up to full temperature and ash over before spreading them out.

Step 11: Dragon Smoke Snacks - Grant Thompson - "The King of Random"

The majority of people don't have access to liquid nitrogen, and those who do, should be familiar with the risks associated. I do not recommend anyone actually try this, but if treated with caution and respect I feel it's a safe enough experiment that it could be easily duplicated without incident.

To get this effect, I sprayed a line of whipped cream into a bath of liquid nitrogen for 5-10 seconds.

The cream is very light and fluffy and full of air, so it freezes almost instantly.

I found that by rolling the frozen cream around on my tongue while chewing very gently, massive amounts of vapor would shoot out of my nose and mouth.

It's speculated that there may be a danger if large pieces of cream are eaten, as it could quickly shock-cool the mouth and cause tissue damage and/or microfissures in tooth enamel. To avoid that risk I just roll the cream quickly on my tongue. If you roll it fast enough, it doesn't even feel cold at all.

Assuming that my mouth is approximately 98.6F and liquid nitrogen is -321F, there is a difference of nearly 420F. As the super cooled cream contacts my mouth, it instantly condenses my breath into water vapor, and that is the fog you see coming out of my nose and mouth.

I highly recommend having a warm drink within arms reach so you have a way to warm your mouth back up, just in case it gets uncomfortable for any reason.
