Step 1: Measure out 2 cups of water into your bowl of choice.

Use Pyrex because it won't explode when you put it in the microwave, unlike styrofoam, foil, or hamsters. Oh, and make sure you have the ramen too. Some people will say that using the "ramen-noodle-in-a-cup-with-vegetables" variety is easier since you only have to boil the water. Noodles in a cup are for wusses. And besides, why would you want vegetables in your noodles? It ruins the whole premise.

<p>It worked well for me, I don't have a camera so I can't press the I Made it! button. One thing that might be worth noting is that it tastes a bit better to drain out the hot water once the noodles have been cooked and pour cold milk in it. It also makes it cool faster.</p>

<p>Good instructions. However, I bought a Rapid Ramen Cooker online and it is amazing. This is the ONLY way to make ramen noodles. It is amazing. It has a water line to add water, and you just pop in the microwave 3-4 minutes. What's really cool is it has heat resistant handles so you don't have get mittens, etc. It has good reviews on Amazon.</p>

Some might, but Top Ramen only happens to have instructions for the stove.

you can also put the noodle in in the water and put both in the microwave for 4 minutes. P.S. if you do it this way remember to add water first . my sister just put the noodles in and this is what happens.
it smoked up the whole house and melted the bowl to the plate and microwave still stinks lol

I have a large ceramic mug from Wally'-Ms that I cook ramin in. Measuring water to get the perfect noodles is a little too crazy for me. I fill the mug about half full, heat it for 4 minutes, drop the noodles in along with about half the package of salty stuff, and let it sit until it's cool enough to eat. By then almost all the moisture has been absorbed by the noodles. When I'm sick and need to eat chicken soup, I'll drop a small can of chicken meat into the heated water along with the noodles and salty stuff.
Lol, satly stuff. My mom hates me making top-ramen alot, because of that salty stuff. I need to try that jsut leacing it there thing. Thanks for the tip!
Actually, philbar, Adrian is right. Although you will get an explosion if you use a closed bottle, superheating in a smooth, undisturbed container is a risk unique to microwaves as described by Adrian above. This is a risk even with open containers like coffee mugs or glass bowls with smooth sides. actually ordinary tapwater can never get superheated, trust me you can try it all you want and it wont. Reason being is that ordinary tapwater has enough impurities in it that it just wont superheat. Distilled or filtered water though, your asking for trouble though. and disturbing the water wont do anything but make it explode in your face. the easiest way to keep from something superheating is to just not use filtered water, or if you must introduce your own impurities (ie put a little bit of the flavor packet in before you nuke it)
Except for the fact that I have super-heated ordinary tapwater...It was experimental conditions, so it was really optimized, and as a general rule you're right, but it's not impossible to do. Maybe it's just the New York City water -- best anywhere.

OK, this is what I do for lunch: Pre-heat water with a coffee maker (Our lunch room has one that is only for hot water, so it's ready all the time). Put a piece of chicken in a large bowl. (I keep some in the freezer, so I have to add the step of microwaving the chicken to get it thawed and warmed up) Chop some Chinese cabbage, green onions and maybe a couple of mushrooms. Add Ramen noodles to the bowl. Make sure the noodles are at the bottom, and place the chicken on top, or to the side. Put vegetables on the top. Most days, I will add a few pieces of Kim Chee. Add hot water to cover the noodles. It's OK to have vegetables above the water. Cover the bowl with another one, so vegetables will steam. Microwave for 5 - 8 minutes. YMMV, depending on microwave power, etc. Ours has a carousel, so I don't need to stir it. When cooked, remove from microwave. Carefully uncover (hot steam!), and add the "flavor packet" contents. Add 1/4 teaspoon of toasted sesame oil, and maybe 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Eat and enjoy.
That ROCKS! and @ reware that is the best idea i've heard all day! although it probably wouldnt work for me , cuz i am making coffee in the pot all day long!
There is a better way: 1. Take a nice sized glass bowl. 2. Put (only) the noodles in the bowl. 3. Fill with water until the noodles start to float around off the bottom of the bowl. 4. Put a paper plate over top of the bowl. 5. Microwave. I had to fiddle with this to get the perfect time, and my time is about 5:45. Not bad at all! 6. Take out of microwave with some oven mits and pour out the excess water in the sink. 7. Add seasoning. 8. Done! Enjoy your delicious ramen noodles.

On superheating, if you put a grain of the seasoning in the water, it wont happen ;)
i do the same thing, only with a 500ml beaker i boil for 1:45 and then cook for 1:45 the reason i don't cook from the start is that the water tends to froth with all the starch and there isn't much room left in the beaker if you get the water content right, after minimal steaming, the remaining noodles are perfectly hydrated (with minimal excess water). but you can't use the entire seasoning packet or it gets horribly salty.
you can actually just put the noodles in a bowl, add water and then microwave the whole thing noodles in all for about three minutes you dont need to heat the water separately. : )
Cooking with plastic in a microwave oven will cause toxins which the plastic is made of to seep into your food. Same with those wonderful popcorn bags. Do the research!! Russia has banned microwaves from use. Check it out!!
I recommend putting in only about 1/5th the flavoring packet into the bowl, followed by the the hot noodle/water mixture. Let stand a few seconds, then use your fork to strain out flavored water, leaving only the hot noodles. The noodles cool quickly, so you can eat them faster, for when you're in a hurry.
college student here, and wow i thank you for the most remarkably uningenious idea yet that i should have thought of, putting the flavoring in the bowl. another cheap way to boil water is one of those electric hot pots that sell for like 15 bucks they are hella sweet for boiling water and take like 2 minutes to get the water to boiling.

When I was in college...back in the day...we weren't allowed to have microwaves in our dorms. My roomates and I quickly discovered you can make ramen (and rice or macaroni and cheese) using the coffee maker. Just measure out however much boiling water you need and pour it in the back of the coffeemaker. Put the noodles in the coffeepot. Out comes the boiling water in a couple minutes and let it sit for a few. Voila!

Happened to me once, I put 12oz water in a beaker, boiled it in the microwave, and started to shake in some loose tea. As soon as the tea hit the surface, the water violently exploded everywhere. Only about half of the water was left in the beaker. I knew about this phenomenon, so I guess I was asking for trouble. Whoops!
Not quite true - water boils in the microwave just like any other heat source. Under just the right circumstances (such sitting very still in a very smooth-walled container) water can rise above 100 deg c without boiling, which can be dangerous, but this has nothing to do with being heated from all sides. Don't believe me? Just stick a big cup of water in there and let it run for maybe 10-15 minutes. It will be boiling its heart out by the end.
The explosion is cause from a narrow opening. In a bowl this isn't a problem but if you try it in bottle then ya, it will explode.
If you microwave water in the microwave, it is possible to super heat the water if there is a lack of disturbance of the water's surface and a lack of nucleation sites, especially if the water is heated in the microwave for a long time. If this happens, the water can basically explode out of the container when it finally is disturbed. (Some people seem to think this isn't actually possible, but it happened to the secretary at my office.) I don't think it's that common an occurance, but it's a good idea to disturb the surface of the water with a spoon or something before you take it out of the microwave.
Part of the joy of ramen is the long noodles, so I prefer to use a large enough container to hold the entire brick without breaking it up. Flip the brick over halfway through the cooking phase so that it's done evenly.
