Introduction: Towel Rack
I got bored and I saw this shelf on google so I made it. Please let me know what I can do to improve my wood working skills. I am sorry for the pictures I didn’t really plan on making this into an instructable
Step 1: Tools Needed
A tape measure, drill, table saw, miter saw, I didn’t take a picture of the miter saw. But I’m sure you know what they look like
Step 2: Materials Needed
Plywood at least 24x12 in, 2x6 at least 60in long, 10-1 1/4 in wood screws, 1 18in 1/2 in galvanized pipe, 2 1/2 in floor flanges, 2 2in 1/2in galvanized pipe, any stain you like I went with Honey. Then last but not least the polyurethane. Also 2 1/2in corner pieces. I forgot to put them in the picture I will add a picture later
Step 3: Cutting the Wood
Your plywood should be at least 24 inches wide and 12 inches long. I used a table saw to rip mine to desired length. The I took a 2x6 and used a table saw to rip it down to 5 inches. I could have left it at 6, but to me it seemed to wide so I ripped it. Then measured 24 inches and used my miter saw at cut 2 of them.
Step 4: Assembling the Wood
First take the sides that got cut from the table saw and put them against the plywood lining the top of the 2x5 to the top of the plywood then the same on the bottom then take your screws and screw the wood together.
Step 5: Staining
Next stain the wood, if the color is not dark enough wait a couple hours after the first coat and add a second one.
Step 6: Assembling the Pipe
take the floor flanges and the 2 in pipes and put them together, then take the corner pieces and attach them as well one you have assembled both side attach the 18in pipe to both of them.
Step 7: Attaching the Pipe
Take your tape measure and find the center on both sides of the wood. Once you do that take your screws and screw in the floor flanges. Once that is finished put it where you want it and decorate
