So you want the snazzy login screen that Mac OSX uses? No problem!
http://www.taimila.com/files/gdm-osx-theme.tar.gz
Download that, DON'T EXTRACT THE TARBALL!
Go to System --> Administration --> Login Window
Click the "local" tab
Click "install"
Locate the tarball of OSX Theme.
Quit.
Enjoy.
