I tried reinstalling it because it's under other devices but it says the hardware was not installed because the wizard could not find the necessary software. I downloaded the logitech zip files and it's on my desktop. I'm not sure what to do... could someone help me please?

ok heres wat u do: first, extract the files then, plug it in then, go into control panel choose printers and other hardware on the very left choose add hardware click next it will search choose eyetoy install new drivers i cant say more because i already downloaded it so it doesnt come up into the search

I should think every one knows this but if the cam is out of focus turn the lens both ways till its good (you'll need to do this for close-ups etc)

Okay i think something seriously wrong just happened. I installed your drivers and everything and it all worked great with my Namtai EyeToy, recorded some stuff to test it out on Movie Maker. I unplugged the eyetoy and plugged it back in, to see if it would still work, and it was all great still. I tried using the "amcam" thing for recording stuff, and it wasnt as good quality, like you said. I unplugged the EyeToy and my whole computer restarted. Was that supposed to happen?!!!! lol other than that my computer seems to be working alright, but i haven plugged the eyetoy back in yet...

I did this a couple years ago before I switched from 98 to XP. In XP, I sometimes get a problem if I unplug the EyeToy and plug it back in (to any port) that Windows sees it as an unknown device. I can't even force the proper drivers on it since they're "not compatible" with the "unknown device". Most of the time though (after uninstalling and reinstalling) it works just fine. Does anyone know if this is a problem with the camera, the driver or just Windows?

ive uninstalled and reinstalled in the different ports a few different times now, ive even tried it with the different drivers in the different ports, nothing is working :( i think ill just go and buy a cheapo cam, might be a bit easier in the longrun. but thanks for the help guys :)

Yes, I think you are right. I've had the same trouble on my PC. It is probably a combination of Windows not knowing what device is plugged in since the EyeToy was not designed for use with a PC.

right.. can someone please help me ASAP :) right... ive got on to device manager but you said that my eyetoy should appear under imaging devices... but mine is under other devices.. and there is another item with a yellow exclamation mark called TSST corp DVD +- RW blablabla.. or is that just something that i have in my disc drive? does it matter if i have my eyetoy in other devices? please some help mee :)

If the device is in "other devices", the driver didn't kick in. try reinstalling the driver for the cam using the "update driver" option for the device in "device manager". I've had one of these setup and running for the last 4 months and it works great. even used the built in mic a couple times. and considering I bought the cam from a used game store for $3 and it out preforms the ones friends have bought for $30, I can't complain.

Thanks! Worked perfectly! But I had a question and wasn't able to find any answers anywhere...What is the difference between the black Logitech EyeToy and the silver Namtai EyeToy? I'm asking because I did as was instructed, and the prompt revealed that I had a Namtai version plugged in, but I was under the impression that the Namtais were the silver ones. I had the black one, which I assumed to be Logitech's.

Hmm, I've never had this happen before. You could try installing the drivers anyways or try plugging it into another port.

Hi, Thanks for your efforts. I have an old Namtai eye toy. The optical quality is quite bad - always out of focus, nothing like your movie... I can make the focus bad or very bad... Could you please tell me about the quality of the different camera variants; how is the old logitech compared to the namtech compared to the new one - or are there more variants around? TIA!
