This is my first instructable, explaining how to use Adobe Photoshop CS3 (or any PS that has the animation feature) to make a morphing animation of Pope Benedict XVI turning into Emporer Palpatine from Star Wars.

What you will need:
- Any Photoshop series that has the animatin feature, i know that CS2 and CS3 do.
- The images of Palpatine and Pope Benedict which i will upload for you.
- A sense of humor.

If you have an older version of Photoshop, you can use Imageready (which is included) to animate it.

I was telling, not asking. Imageready was the gimpy little brother of Photoshop that was designed just for animation, but I guess now Photoshop does that itself. As far as I know it works the same way.

Now it all makes sense, you have CS3 down here, I have CS2 down, which include imageready in it and has almost all the functionality available with a few extra plugins...

WinMorph would do a great job on this as well. It's also great for turning fat people into Jabba the Hut. (LOL.)

Cheers!

To be fair, that's not really morphing, but just a dissolve from one image to another.

Actual morphing involves identifying corresponding features in both images, and distorting the images accordingly as you blend from one to the other. There are a couple of free (and not-so-free) software packages around to do this - the link above lists a few of them.

If you want to play around with morphs of celebrities, MorphThing is a website that has a bunch of them pre-loaded. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have the pope. They do have Bush though. You can also upload your own pictures if you register - haven't tried that yet.

Other than that - nice instructable . ;-)
