As I stated in my description, the sound post was too large and caused a large bump to form between the f-holes in the front as well as the back. This space caused the post to fall, rendering the cello unusable. Perhaps you know more about resetting sound posts? From my experience it takes a great deal of time and technique. The woman I received this cello from has two masters degrees in music from Steinhart at NYU and assured me that it would never play a note again. Do you play the cello as well?
In general I wouldn't ever take an instrument that was playable and do something for the sake of art that would prevent it from playing again. All of these instruments were going to become landfill clutter because of damage, holes, missing parts, etc.

Normally I wouldn't condone damaging instruments, but this is actually pretty nice! I especially like the hand on the front of the cello. Kinda reminds me of the Instructables hand! Nice work.
