Firing Video now downloadable!

*Just created a new version with a new slide system. I don't know how much it has lowered the range, since it is 11 at night, and I'm not gonna wake up my family shooting knex guns. But from shooting at my pillow, it appears it will be 5-10 feet less. The trade off is A much more realistic slide.*

Its almost here! The original UKP was sick and all, combining the major features of two great K'nex pistols into one... but V2? V2 is everything V1 wasn't. The original version had several jam issues, and a small mag. On its positive side, it had insane fire and reload speed, along with excellent range for a pistol due to its larger round taken from the GD1, and its removable mag was a new design.

Well, quite frankly, V2 blows V1 out of the water.
-Jam issues fixed, 100% success rate.
-Magazine size reduced, while increasing capacity. What does that mean? It has a more traditional mag in handle, that doesn't stick out from the bottom. Magazine size has also been increased to 7 rounds, at the cost of no quick reload, yet.
-Fire speed has been, dare I say? increased because...

   IT'S SLIDE ACTION

-Range has been maintained, even though a smaller round is being used
-Fake barrel has been extended
-And do to its overwhelmingly negative feedback, the laser has been removed.

What does this make for? One of the sickest K'nex pistols out there

Statistical Results: (updated as found)
Range: 20-25 ft with occasional spurts of 35 ft
Firing interval: less than 1 second per shot.
Magazine: 7 rounds
Reload time: less than 5 seconds
Accuracy: Lies in its first 15-20 feet

When will it come out. Because in your last post you said Februari and it's almost June. I want to build this weapon to add it to my collection of cool weapons.
knexguy6 says: Dec 18, 2011. 8:10 AM
when is this coming out cuz i still havent seen an intrucyable for it and i really wanna build it.
osi (author) in reply to knexguy6Dec 31, 2011. 12:08 PM
It's in version 4 right now... I'm actually working on it right now... Trying to lengthen the slide while maintaining range, It's actually a lot harder than it would seem... I've got 3 more days on this break, so if its not done by then... then it'll be February Break... if not then... well then I have no idea... keep checking this weekend, if its not up by Tuesday though, then It probably won't be up til February... sorry for the delay, and thanks for your continued support!

How long does it take to make a version 3, NOT post it and then go to version 4? Just curious.

Holy crap if it has a slide its slide action pistol with a mag thats the closest knex can get to a real pistol.
chopstx says: Sep 21, 2011. 12:41 PM
You should post!!!
osi (author) in reply to chopstxSep 22, 2011. 3:08 AM
I'm working on making the slide bigger... It really isn't quite a slide, yet.
chopstx in reply to osiSep 22, 2011. 3:57 PM
Why not just post it now and post a slide mod later? This really looks like a great gun and I will definitely build!

Yep, still working on the slide area, it, for some reason, is becoming weak all of a sudden.. plus I still need to manage a triger guard.
tytiger33 in reply to osiAug 12, 2011. 8:35 PM
good

Great work! Love the slide action on, but it is rather bulky. Posting?
osi (author) in reply to TheFoofinatorJul 20, 2011. 6:23 PM
You'd think it would be... but it really isn't... Ever shoot an M9 (like the real thing)? It's about the same size and weight as that. Getting around to the whole posting thing... I'm trying to figure out if there is a faster way to upload pictures from the Kin 2m (since its an 8 megapixel camera, and my regular camera is 5.6) to my computer... and Thanks!
TheFoofinator in reply to osiJul 21, 2011. 7:03 AM
I mean the handle is a bit bulky. I know it needs mags in but it looks pretty big.
apples!!!!! in reply to TheFoofinatorJul 22, 2011. 9:56 AM
Looks to be seven layers thick, so yeah it would be...I'm only concerned about the blue rods sticking out of it. Only one way to find out; I'll be working with this when it's posted >:D
apples!!!!! in reply to apples!!!!!Aug 1, 2011. 7:51 AM
I thought about that this morning actually, but wouldn't that 1) be a bit wider than 5 layers and 2) be a bit shaky?
TheFoofinator in reply to apples!!!!!Aug 1, 2011. 4:37 AM
I know how the make it 5. Using whites. Look at TD's oodassault pistols, they use a joining technique for y clips that means you can have 5 layers, but without blues sticking out, this is really useful for handles.
osi (author) in reply to TheFoofinatorAug 9, 2011. 4:16 AM
I know how that system works, I've seen it on other guns... so without looking at his... The handle on this gun needs to do a few things. It needs to be able to accept a magazine, and it needs to be sturdy enough so you can pull back the ram rod without it breaking. The white and y connector thing just doesn't seem strong enough.
osi (author) in reply to apples!!!!!Jul 22, 2011. 4:51 PM
HA! look at the two pictures that show both sides! It's form fitted for a righty, if you switch the two plates (both sides of the handle) then it will be for a lefty. Anyway, your thumb fits in the grove on the left side (if your a righty) and on the other side your pointer finger gets gradually moved up to the 7th layer to make it more comfortable. In all actuality its like 5 and a half.
apples!!!!! in reply to osiJul 22, 2011. 6:04 PM
It looks like six, with the seventh layer only extending halfway up the handle.
osi (author) in reply to apples!!!!!Jul 24, 2011. 5:40 AM
I can't explain it well enough... just wait for the ible, it'll make it much easier to explain.
apples!!!!! in reply to osiJul 24, 2011. 10:41 PM
I'm waiting, you can be sure of that. These were the rage back in my day, so it excites me to see another good one in the making.
osi (author) in reply to apples!!!!!Jul 25, 2011. 7:58 AM
Same here lol, we became members within 2 months of eachother... I was absolutely amazed by the GD1's fire system, but hated its bulkiness. I loved the TDS's size, but it didn't have all the features. This UKP project, which has been going on for 3 years now (since I became a member) is finally where it was intended to be, features of a GD1, size of a TDS. And I'm aiming for mid August for a release of the Ible... I'm still working on a trigger guard and solidifying the slide.
apples!!!!! in reply to osiJul 25, 2011. 8:47 AM
Well that explains a lot, then! Haha yeah most of the sidearms were not packed with features, though I did enjoy the TDSS because it at least had a nice slide on it. Removable clips in a handle have not been a strong point for any weapon released on this site so far. But nuuu not August! I might have to try and build it from the pictures >.>
osi (author) in reply to apples!!!!!Aug 15, 2011. 5:41 PM
Sorry... I got called into work this week... and I'm going on vacation this weekend... so next week It'll be put up...
osi (author) in reply to apples!!!!!Jul 25, 2011. 3:09 PM
Ha I'll work on it a bit more over the next couple of days... maybe early August... It is a pain to take apart... plus I still want to work on making it function better than it already does.

Looks can be deceiving, eh? Lol... And thanks!
apples!!!!! says: Jul 18, 2011. 10:39 PM
Pretty slick, but that slide isn't really a slide. You should make the slide part of the gun itself, like they're supposed to be- then you'll have yourself a winner here.
osi (author) in reply to apples!!!!!Jul 19, 2011. 6:11 AM
And thank you!
osi (author) in reply to apples!!!!!Jul 19, 2011. 6:10 AM
It originally was, but I couldn't get a locking mechanism that would let the slide go far enough back, so I had to continually make the slide smaller until where it is at this point. It certainly doesn't feel weird pulling it back.
apples!!!!! in reply to osiJul 19, 2011. 9:42 AM
Ah, you preferred having a lock. You kind of reversed the lock though, because they usually keep the slide back to allow for a new clip to be inserted. If you posted this, I might actually make it and tailor it more towards myself, because this looks pretty good. Can you show a picture of a full clip with rounds in it?
osi (author) in reply to apples!!!!!Jul 19, 2011. 9:47 AM
Yea I know... I wanted to be able to pull back on the slide with some force and not have to worry about it going off the gun, then have it break from the bands, and, in general, send things out of control... but yea... I've got a video of it loading and firing... just got done taking it... it still has a tendency to shoot two at once, but I believe its because I'm using a #64 on the magazine instead of a smaller band...
apples!!!!! in reply to osiJul 19, 2011. 10:16 AM
Alright, I look forward to seeing it. I really like compact pistols, but most on this site kind of suck, so I have high hopes for this. It'd be the first thing I've built since the SRv2 a few months back.
osi (author) in reply to apples!!!!!Jul 19, 2011. 10:44 AM
Coming from you, that'd mean a lot.

Yea... I'm gonna when I get to it... This gun is by far the best I've ever built, so it won't be taken apart any time soon, except to make the instructable.
