USB powered plasma globe

this Instructable will show anyone how to make a usb powered plasma ball out of a cheap 2 dollar who.. I mean plasma globe.

Step 1 Dismantaling the globe.

materials:
-one plasma globe
-a usb cable
-soldering iron and solder (optional)
-almost no skills

this can damage ur motherboard because there can be high voltage going back to ur usb port

thats not possible. This usb cable is hooked up to the battery box, which have diodes to prevent high voltage from ging into the batteries so the same applies here.

uhhhh......it lights up? Here if the plasma globe let high voltage flow through the wires i used, that would make the globe unsafe in the first place because the batteries would explode from overcharging. so, if you look at the globe's electronics you can see diodes that prevent reverse flow of electricity into the battery box. so, if i connect it to my computer via usb cable through the battery box terminal wires, then the same diodes will prevent hte same electricity frem going back into the motherboard. in other words NO it will NOT damage your computer.

The current is very low so the batteries cant explode. There will be a diode on only 1 terminal positive or negative if it is on the positive side then what about the negative side ? And most of the transformers have problems of internal arcing what if it is between the secondary and primary coil. what if others burn their motherboard?

Good job! 5 stars but dont you have a schematic Here on the philippines we have a store called cd-r king they sell almost everything like USB stuffs, 500W Inverter that only cost Cost $15.
