Introduction: Untangle and De-frizz a Long Wig

Picture of Untangle and De-frizz a Long Wig

I'm going to show you how to detangle and de frizz a long wig. *WARNING: ONLY DO THIS IF YOU KNOW YOUR WIG IS HEAT RESISTANT, OR ELSE IT WILL MELT! this also might damage your wig a little bit, but if you are reading this tutorial, your wig is probably already damaged lmao.

Step 1: Materials

Picture of Materials

-flat iron
-spray bottle
-wig conditioner (can usually get this at beauty stores)
-wig brush

Step 2: Make the Spray

Picture of Make the Spray

Mix a little bit of the conditioner and water into the spray bottle. I'd say about a quarter sized amount of conditioner and the rest water.

Step 3: Other Steps .3.

First spray the bottom of the wig and brush it with the wig brush. Then spray the bottom again and flat iron it. It should make a sizzling noise. If your wig is really messy, seperate into different sections. Then move up the wig and repeat. My wig is really messy at the top so I won't even try and brush it out.

Step 4: Braid It! (optional)

You don't have to braid it, I just did because it does help it not get thangled. But it does get wavy when u take it out so you'd have to flat iron it again. If u don't braid it, i'd recommend that you keep it in the wig net and bag it came in. ** make sure that the wig is completely dry before you store it in a bag kr else it might get moldy or smell bad.

I had purple wig that I didnt use so I decided to use it for a Toko Fukawa cosplay! It was really messy and knotty so I just used this tutorial! Worked perfectly, I just cut the bangs a little and braided the hair into two. Thank you!

(I forgot to take a before shot so all I have is the after one orz )
Thanks for the tutorial ! My wig became frizzy at the ends after constant brushing and dying , you really saved me ! I also think this method brought back the original arda wig ... texture or feel (? ); it 's not as dry and well , frizzy anymore ~

This is just a little something I did to save me time , and I don 't know if you (or anyone else looking ) wanna try this but you can also use an (cloth ) iron on low setting (depending on how much heat resistant your wig is , I went up to the polyester setting which is the second hottest /steamiest my iron had ), either directly on the wig or put a towel or cloth on top of it .

But if u iorned it woun't it melt/

Only if your wig is low quality or synthetic. I had a synthetic wig that I tried this on, and I just applied the mixture, waited for it to dry a little, and brushed it out. It worked great.

what if you don't have a wig brush?

RachelM87 (author)melodie.moen2016-02-15

I recommend that you use a boar-bristle brush. It won't tug on the wig, and it smooths it out. You can find those at Walmart. :)

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! I did this, and it worked wonders! I thought I was never going to be able to restore my wig, but it worked! Thank you so much!
