Hey guys, this is my first step by step. I found part of a chambray button up shirt in our rags and I decided to make a little bag :) It's small but the perfect size for one book, hence the name. I think it would be perfect for those times when you just need to carry small things. Enjoy!

You will need:
Old button-up shirt (not stretchy material)
Sewing machine, thread
Scissors
Needle & Thread (if you want)

Step 1: Cut Out the Pieces

First cut out the main bag material from the front of the shirt, pocket side. Cut it so it's twice the length of the desired bag length. Sorry I couldn't get any pics of this stage.

Then, cut out the strap from the button placket. Cut right along the edge (see picture) to the desired length.

Step 2: Sew!

First, pin the top hem to the inside of the bag, both sides. I was lazy and didn't know how the bag would turn out so I didn't match the thread. For tidiest results, match the thread to the material. Then sew straight across.

Next, pin and sew the sides, outside in. Make sure you stay pretty close to the edge so you still have room in your bag!

Step 3: Trim & Turn Inside Out

Trim the excess material around the seams to eliminate bulk, but not super close because you don't want to accidentally cut the seam open. Then flip your bag right side out.

The next step is to attach the strap. I didn't like how I did mine so I'm not including a picture. I think it would work best to sew it by hand using a whipstitch. I just sewed straight across which is functional, but doesn't look great.
