Step 1: Ingredients:
2 - Red sweet bell peppers ( I just used one.)
1 - Room temperature egg.
1 soup can size peeled tomatoes or the equivalent (drained).
Sides such as green peas
Cheese for topping.
Step 2: The Sauce.
In a large pan add a soup can worth of whole peeled and drained whole tomatoes.
Heat the pan to medium or so.
Gently crush the tomatoes so they do not squirt juice everywhere.
Add your spices such as the oregano, basil and etcetera.
Let it cook down so there are no loose juces but still moist. Stir as needed.
Take your sauce and cover the piadina in a thn for full layer.
Note I left the juice in the can. Ooops, but I added cornstarch to thicken it up.
Step 3: Prepare the Bell Bepper(s).
Cut off the top.
Remove the white insides including the seeds.
Wash out the insides.
Pulverize in a food processor.
Step 4: Make the Dough.
Crack an egg (one per cup pf flour) into the flour and stir.
Add in the pulverized bell peppers (two per cup of dough) and stir.
Stir until you get a good tight.pasta dough
A little extra flour may be required.
Let rest in the icebox for a bit.
Roll till very thin but not sticky. (add flour as needed.).
Use your heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out the pasta pieces.
You can reroll the unused pasta for more heart shapes.
Step 6: Boil the Noodles.
When boiling add the add the pasta shapes.
They will not take long to cook.
When the hearts have come to the surface, remove to a plate.
Step 7: For Your Valentine.
Add cheese if desired,
Add green peas.
Serve to your special one.
