In the summer when our parents were at work and my sister and I were trusted to be at home by ourselves we often found ourselves bored. After our daily routine of waking up just in time for Days of Our Lives and General Hospital, talking on the phone, going outside to sunbathe and then more TV we decided things were getting old and we needed a new and fun activity. Well, we came up with the most intelligent thing, of course, which consisted of making batches of egg-less cookie dough and eating it spoonful by spoonful while watching The Price is Right! That's right! Come on down, you're gonna be the next kid with diabetes!!!!!
Well, that's not really funny and luckily neither one of us ended up with high blood sugar but I do still find it hard to keep my fingers out of the bowl of cookie dough!
With this delightful memory in my head I thought it would be fun to make a cookie dough dessert - an adult excuse to eat more than a few licks of cookie dough. You can wear the edible bracelet until you are just too tempted and have to eat it or until it gets soft and you are forced to eat it! Either way you are going to enjoy it!
Step 1: Bracelet Form
To make a cookie dough bracelet you will need the cookie dough recipe (in step 2), a large tootsie roll (or some other complimentary taffy like candy), food coloring and a pattern in mind, waxed paper and a rolling pin.
Using a rolling pin roll out a large piece of tootsie roll on waxed paper. Shape it to desired width and length. I held it around the widest part of my hand to make sure it would fit over my hand once it was complete.
Secure/pinch ends together and refrigerate.
