Vehicle "skating" in GTA IV

Welcome to a completely useless instructable.
Well, useless if you don't own GTA IV and love destroying vehicles and property.

The point of this is to show you how to grab a car and get it ready for a graceful ballet on the streets of liberty city.
Credit goes to Wes9000 for showing us what fun could be had in our cars.

Step 1 Get your Skates!

Step one in this extraordinarily complicated process is to acquire a new Set of Skates.
Normal people would do this through a dealership or private seller, but Niko has other plans.

This process is both simple and extremely entertaining.
Notice we've used the Finesse style of carjacking (skate acquisition) here and simply asked for the vehicle.

Some other methods are messier.

Now seriously, was it necessary to post a five step instructable complete with videos and physics explanations, when you could simply have said, "Shoot out the tyres on a car and drive it?" I was expecting some fancy, skillful maneuver that I'd never seen before!

Might I add, the BEST way to do this is to obtain said vehicle, park it outside of an establishment that specializes in ethanol concentrated beverages, remove "skate covers", embibe said beverages, then make your way back to your skating apparatus. Also fun in a police attack heli

You can do this in San Andreas with the sultan.

i do this a lot its and it's a lot of fun. if you do it on the Porsche look alike AKA the comet it works really great. if you want one heres the number for it: 227-555-0175. it's so much fun!

Discovered this a while back. More fun on a bike, though. :) They actually handle better than the real thing.

I'm not going to lie, thats kinda lame, why not just shoot out the front two? so that way you can still accelerate.

you dont have to shoot out all the tires to make that real fun. just powerbrake and blow out the rear tires, its just as much fun.

Oh by the way, Another fun 'activity' in Liberty was described to me by a friend - Shoving people in front of a subway train at just the right moment. Try it - You'll love it!

Hi. Great instructable! Good fun. I myself have experienced only the thrill of one or two wheeled blowouts. Will try this later. BTW does anybody know how to go about grabbing onto vehicles consistently? You may all know when you grab onto a fast moving vehicle, Niko will sometimes be dragged to the floor holding onto the car door handle. Does anybody know how to do this regularly, and perhaps be dragged along for a mile or two!? That would be kewl. . Anyway - how come GTA4 is SO GOOD!? I mean in reality its little more than a graphical/physics engine upgrade to San Andreas, but why have we all approached the game as if it was a whole new lease of life for the GTA sandboxed genre? I'm perplexed, but happy! I am thinking maybe because the city, for starters, is so much more realistic and ultimately believable this time round. Niko is a better described character than your man in San Andreas too. What y'all think?

I've got to try this, the only thing that keeps me entertained is motorcycling off of skyscrapers and helicopter dogfights. Oh, and getting two random guys to fight each other.

lol im glad i got this game, but how do u get the motorbike on the scyscraper... cos when i get on the bike, the little arrow that u walk into disappears. unless u use the spawn car cheat....?

Spawn a helicopter and land on the roof. Then spawn a motorcycle.

yeah figured it out the other day lol thanks anyway, it was pretty annoying though, cos most of the nice rooves where u pick up speed had boundaries so it was hard to drive off it, at least u die though like in real life!
