Introduction: Velcro GPS Dash Mount

This instructable will show you how to make a GPS mount that is removable and will mount onto your cars dash. In some states it is illegal to attach GPS devices to the windshield, for instance my home state of Minnesota. When I got my GPS it came with a sticky mount that allows you to attach it to the dash, but once it is attached you can't remove it. I decided to make a velcro mount that is removable.

Materials:
2.5" x 2.5" piece of plexiglass piece
2.5" x 2.5" piece of velcro fabric with sticky sides

Tools:
Table saw
Scissors
Sandpaper

Step 1: Cut the Plexiglass

In this step you will need access to a table saw or hacksaw. Take the piece of plexiglass and draw out a 2.5" x 2.5" square and cut it out using the saw. If the cuts are a little rough you can sand the sides and edges down with some sand paper. I prefer doing this because it makes it nice and smooth and rounded sides.

Step 2: Attaching the Velcro

Cut the velcro strips to the size of the plexiglass piece and attach the hooks side (not the fuzzy or loops side) of the strip to the plexiglass.

Step 3: Attach to Dash

Peel off the backing of the loops side of the velcro and attach it to your dash, wherever you feel comfortable. Then you can attach the plexiglass to the dash and attach the suction cup mount to the dash.

Step 4: Admire Your Work

Sit back and admire your new mount and drive safely.
