Introduction: Video Backgrounds for XP

Do you hate vista, but love the fact that you can get video backgrounds on it? Do you have an xp? Here is an Instructable that you can use to get a great quality video background of anything on the web or even your own videos for FREE.

Step 1: Grab the Vlc Media Player, This Is the Player That You Will Use to Play Your Background.

Go to this site http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html and download the vlc media player and install it...then proceed to step 2.

Step 2: Start Changing Your Preferences.

Open the media player and go to settings then preferences. Then expand the interface tab, then the main interfaces, then click wxwidgets. In the bottom right corner of “wxWidgets interface module” window, click on “Advanced options” to show advanced settings. Then uncheck the Taskbar check box in order to remove VLC Player title from the taskbar while the program is running.

Step 3: Almost Done, Now Just Change a Few More Things.

Expand the video tab, then Output Modules and then select Direct X. In bottom right corner of DirectX Video Output window, check the Advanced Options check box in order to see all the settings available. Then check the enable wallpaper box. After that go to playlists and customize it. Then click save and go to step 4.

Step 4: Now Open It Up and Add Your Video.

Open vlc player and hit ctrl-F, or go to file-open file. Then hit browse and select your video. Then select ok and minimize the player.

Step 5: Adding a Youtube Video.

If you want to add a youtube video, then go to youtube, find the video that you want, and copy the url, then go to www.vixy.net, paste the url and download the video.

Step 6: Enjoy.
