This is another super easy/inexpensive project with a high class, vintage look. The whole project took me about 45 minutes to complete and it works flawlessly. Follow the easy steps below and you too will have a one of a kind vintage book clock!

Step 1: Pick a Book

This is the most important part because this will either make or break the look of the final piece. Choose a hard cover book that goes with your decor. The title isn't necessarily important but can be a nice touch. This is a clock that I am putting in my daughters room so the title fits well. Its also nice if there isnt much going on besides the title and the author so the hands are easy to read. Get an old one if possible with yellowed pages, it adds to the vintage look and makes it totally unique.

Step 2: Buy a Clock Kit

Clock kits are inexpensive and easy to find online and in hobby stores. You can choose the hands, they can either be ornate or simple like the ones I chose for my design. It helps to consider the style of the book that you choose and what it looks like. The hands should match and add to the overall look and not be distracting.

Step 3: Drill a Hole for the Timing Mechanism

Measure the hands of the clock and make sure that when the minute hand is at "30" the hands are not extending past the base of the book. This is important because if you are planning on setting it on a shelf or a table it will not get stuck on the surface the book is sitting on. If you are going to hang the book on the wall this note is not necessary. Based on the center point measure the rest of the clock kit and mark out where you need to cut the pages. Use a blade and ruler to cut down through all of the pages so that the cover will close as if there is nothing inside.

Step 4: Add the Hands and Enjoy!

Put the hands on based on the directions in the kit and insert the battery to test it out. Once you see everything is working properly - BOOM you're done and will have a totally unique, vintage, and timeless (haha) clock you can enjoy for years to come.
