Virus Prank

Step 3Write new words

Write new words
With the text being "Times New Romans" and the font size 8, write a new error message in all CAPS. I wrote this: "WARNING! A VIRUS HAS BEEN DETECTED! SHUT YOUR COMPUTER OFF RIGHT NOW AND TAKE IT TO A PROFESSIONAL TO PREVENT YOUR COMPUTER FROM NEVER WORKING AGAIN!" You can write something different if you want.

Anyone who is even remotely intelligent could know that this is bogus... First off, Windows wouldn't type in all caps. Second, it wouldn't say "SHUT YOUR COMPUTER OFF RIGHT NOW AND TAKE IT TO A PROFESSIONAL TO PREVENT YOUR COMPUTER FROM NEVER WORKING AGAIN!". Third, if Windows did happen to display a message signaling the user of a virus, they would be able to hit okay.

If you were truly stupid you would unplug it and take it to Geek Squad unlike us at Instructables. We do all of our own computer reapairs!!! If you want to do a REAL prank open Notepad and type in :

@echo off
echo Warning (Random Virus Program(AVG Anti-Virus) has detetected a threat.
echo Booting in Command Prompt to avoid detection
pause> nul
echo Virus Type:
echo Trojan Gen. 3
pause> nul
echo Attemping to remove virus...
echo Loading file location C:/Mycomputer/system32/WINDOWS/GENWS1
echo FHHJG^$HNY^U&^%J&I5ujk67MKUY&^IMJK67jii86iuht5e4y47uh65u7
echo Virus removal failed...
pause> nul
echo Virus too advanced. Loading file locations:
echo Anti-Virus detector.exe is corrupted...
echo System Shutdown in progress...
echo Shutdown is in progress to protect data...
shutdown -m

Save it as Internet.bat and save it on the victims desktop. WAY better than this!

It's easier to do this in an... easier... fashion, using batch, Java, even C++.... And that's hardly a realistic virus message.

I could do this more realisticaly in notepad and make a .vbs file that says it better, and I can trust it.

Actually, I think batch would be best. The command prompt looks so dire, it'd scare the crap out of anyone I know. Try writing something like. TESTING RAM... RAM FAILED TESTING CPU... CPU FAILED TESTING GFX... GFX FAILED TESTING MAINBOARD... MAINBOARD FAILED ALL MAJOR HARDWARE CORRUPTED... ERROR ERROR ERROR WINDOWS IS CORRUPTED etc.

I did that at my high school a couple of years ago but I used netsend and put somthing like "Virus detected! Please reinstall operating system. (second line containing random codes and saying the MBR was erased)"

Though sadly vista and probably all later M$ OSs don't have that command anymore (I haven't look at Windows 7 yet though)

7 has cmd

If you go to google and search "Download Netsend", then go to the link at lantalk.net they have one that works with Vista.

I tried that but you'd need to install it on all of the PCs you want to communicate with, you have to either pay for it or crack it, and it doesn't use the ominous command prompt.
