If you are new to chain mailing and have never done it before, please read through Volume 1 - Introduction to Chainmail on the parts of rings, how to use them, the tools to use, and how to open and close rings. It also contains links to where you can purchase a wide variety of rings and tools.

The Byzantine weave is also known as Birdcage, Idiot box, Fool's Dilemma, and many others. Byzantine works well in a 3.35 AR. Suggested rings sizes are 1/4"-14swg , 3/16"-16SWG, or 1/8"-20SWG. This weave makes an outstanding bracelet in smaller sizes. 3/32"-22SWG in sterling silver makes a nice, tight weave with a good weight.

Spiderchain Jewelry is where I purchase all my saw-cut sterling silver rings. The 3/32" silver rings can be found under the "ring name" of 6:21 on this page of Spiderchain. The gauge system used on Spiderchain is AWG so the ring size in AWG is 3/32"-21AWG.

Your stuff looks so very cool. I would love to try it. Where do I buy the rings?

I have always been fascinated with knots but never knew what to do with it. Your tutorial has opened a very interesting door! Thank you for making such a clear 'Ible.

Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. I have been looking at several tutorials for Byzantine chain, and got lost each time. But this one is so clear and the graphics so easy to see, I finally feel that I can do it.

I really enjoy your Instructables. I am going to try and create a bracelet like this. I was wondering if you knew of any other types of jewelry weaves that you could post. These are all great that you have. Keep it up! hope to see more!

Also I was hoping that you could post the sizes of rings used. I know you give the measurements but is it possible you could post the measurements with an "actual size" picture representing it. It just makes it easier to see how large or small and item will be.

Thank you! :)
