Introduction: Water Rocket

About: I'm just a cool guy making cool things and doing cool stuff.

Have you ever dreamed of having your rocket? Well now you can! All you need is some household items to make a high-flying water rocket. This is a pretty easy project that can be done in 30 minutes of less.

Step 1: Get the Materials

In order to build this cool rocket, you'll probably have everything you need at home. These are the materials you need.

Materials:

2 2-litter pop bottles- You can use any size, just make sure both are the same size, though. I like 2-litters best because they go the highest. Try experimenting with different sizes.

Duct tape- The ultimate tape.

Hot glue gun with glue for it

Cardboard- Find the sturdiest.

X-Acto knife

After you get the hot glue gun, you should probably plug it in. This way it's hot when you're ready to use it.

Step 2: Make the Fins

Choose a fin design and cut it out of the cardboard. You'll need to make 3 fins for this rocket. Don't make them really big or small. Too big, and they are just too heavy to help. Too small, and they're worthless.

Step 3: Prep the Bottle

Choose the nicer looking of the two bottles and put 3 strips of duct tape equally around it. Refer to the diagram if your confused. Make the strips of tape the same length as the part of the fin that you are going to glue to the bottle. The dots are where you should put the tape.

Step 4: Glue the Fins

Now, if you plugged the glue gun in earlier, it should be hot by now. If you didn't, you'll have to wait for it to heat up.

To glue the fins on, simply choose a side of your fins that you want to glue on. (Use the same side for all of the fins.) Then, put a good bead of glue on the fin and press it onto the duct tape. Make sure that the fins are all the same height and that they are parallel with the rocket. If they are tilted, the rocket might spin.

Step 5: Make a Nose Cone

This part is easy. All you have to do is cut the top half off the leftover bottle. (The one without the fins.) Make a nice, even cut around it. Then, tape the cone onto the bottom of the rocket.

Step 6: You're Done!

After you tape the cone on and the glue hardens, you're done! Take the rocket outside and launch it. I'm currently making an Instructable on a launcher, but you can probably find other great ones online! Remember, be safe and have fun!

I assume no responsibility for injures. Make and launch this at your own risk. I've never had a rocket explode, but that doesn't mean that they can't.
