Weekly Project: Build Your Own X-Ray Vision Camera

Step 5Oh, Behave; Look around

Oh, Behave; Look around

Turn on the camera, point it at your hand, and fire away. Because the filter is only over the sensor, you won't see the effect looking through the viewfinder, but you will see "something" when you download your pictures. Get ready to amaze your friends. Go to Camera hacking forum featuring John Maushammer for instructions on modding your disposable camera for re-use.

"Some materials such as sodium iodide (NaI) can "convert" an X-ray photon to a visible photon" -wikipedia Is that what you are using, NaI? All the beryllium windows that I looked at let 99% of x-rays through instead of slowing them down. NaI is clear like your picture, and it is used in x-ray scintillator detectors.
