Introduction: Polishing Nails

About: This profile is comprised of the instructions written by my Composition 101 students. The assignment was intent to get them thinking about how to explain and teach how to complete a given process to a group. …

This instructable will help you paint your nails right so they're not messy looking and will last longer. To begin you're need nail polish remover (if you have old paint on your nails),  cotton rounds (for the nail polish remover), finger nail clippers (to shorten and shape your nails), nail filer (to smooth out the tips of your nails), nail buffer (to smooth surface of nail), garbage can (dump your finger nail clippings in and your other nails stuff in) and finger nail polish: base coat, finger nail polish and top coat. The base coat is clear, this is so the color you decide on doesn't dye your nail beds. The top coat can be can any color you'd like. And the top coat is also clear. This protects your nail polish so it last longer.

Step 1: Cleaning Your Nails

Take a cotton round, and apply finger nail polish remover to it. Rub the cotton round to finger nail to remove any substance that is on it. Repeat for each nail until ten finger nails are clean. If your cotton round becomes to dirty get a new one and apply more nail polish remover to it.

Step 2: Clipping Your Nails

Take your nail clipper and clip ends of nails to desired length. Clip nails over garbage can.

Step 3: Filing Your Nails

You will get rough edges from the nail clipper so you must file your nails so they don't chip and they'll look good. Take a good nail file and begin to slide the file across the end of your nail. Don't go back and fourth because that will ruin the smoothness of it.

Step 4: Buffing Your Finger Nails

Take the buffer and brush the base of your finger nail. Buff it from the center of you nail to the outside. Repeat with all your nails.

Step 5: Painting on Your Base Coat

Shake the bottle so all the elements get mixed together and your base is even. Unscrew your bottle and brush the brush on the rim of the bottle. This is so your nails won't turn out gloppy. Stroke your nail bed with the polish. Swipe the substance from the bottom (by cuticle) to the end of your nail. Do this is all your nails. Make sure it's evenly applied or else final product will be lumpy.

Step 6: Applying Your Nail Polish

Shake the bottle so all the color pigments get mixed together and your color is even. Unscrew your bottle and brush the brush on the rim of the bottle. This is so your nails won't turn out gloppy. Stroke your nail bed with the polish.Swipe the polish from the bottom (by cuticle) to the end of your nail. If your brush isn't applying the polish very well anymore, dip it back into the bottle and repeat the step. Do this is all your nails.

NOTE: Depending on the nail polish you may have to apply more than one coat. Usually the nail polish won't be to thick if you need to apple more than one.

Step 7: Finishing With Your Top Coat

Repeat the bottle opening process. Swipe the substance from the bottom (by cuticle) to the end of your nail. The top coat is a quick drying protection for your nails. Allow yourself time to relax and let your nails dry. I.e. DON'T shower or sleep or anything that can intent marks or smudge your nails.
