Picture of Wide Paracord Bracelet
This is my first instructable and I hope you enjoy it.
I will show you how I made a wide paracord bracelet with a side release buckle. This is also a good plan for a collar for you dog.

Step 1: Pick your colors

First step is picking your colors. The optimal types are 2 colors that contrast.

Also for your side release buckle I recommend a 1" size. This allows you plenty of room to insert the cordage. The 5/8" size I used just made it very tight to work with.

To figure out how much paracord you will need, measure your wrist where you want the bracelet to sit at. Take that measurement and multiply by 12 to get your approximate start length. You should have plenty of cord left over at the finish. It's better to have too much than not enough.

The color you want as the outside one should be your wrist measurement times 12. You should make 2 lengths of this. The color you have for the inside will be twice as long as the outside color or 24 times your wrist measurement.

Loop the strands onto your buckle using a cow hitch knot

One tip is to make sure you keep the same pattern going and not switch which cord goes over and which one goes under. If you do switch the order it will make the pattern look disjointed.

Step 2: Step 1

Picture of Step 1
Take cord 4 and go under cord 5 and over the standing end of cord 6.

Snug up the half knot.

Step 3: Step 2

Picture of Step 2
You are then going to take cord 6 and go over 5 and then under the standing end of cord 4.

Tighten the half knotup to the base of the previous knots.

Step 4: Step 3

Picture of Step 3
Now take cord 4 under 5 and over 6.

Step 5: Step 4

Picture of Step 4
Now take cord 6 and go over 5 and under the standing end of 4.

Tighten the entire knot up snug.

Step 6: Step 5

Picture of Step 5
Now to start on the other side.

Take cord 3 and go under 2 and over 1.

I'm a beginner and it would have nice to show me and others on how to terminate the bracelet. Now, I've got to search for it.

Thanks anyway.

I agree. It would have been nice to see steps on how to end it.

Hey i know am a noob for asking this but does anyone know were i can buy the material....i keep gettin the other options...does this hv a particular name i can use or better a site i can check out

Omar , your question is not crazy , you can order some paracord from ebay , amazon , any kind of army surplus which should sell some , or even walmart sells some and even the kits that help you get started on making them , then after you get the hang of it you can start trying different things with it hope that helps you .

I like the two color look and wider width.

I really need help finishing this.

Slightly adapted for a "twin buckle" design and finished by "backthreading" the working ends through the weave, but still made from your post - thanks for sharing the idea

Awesome tutorial. I made a three color bracelet for my wife using this technique.

Please can you clarify if I loop the outside paracord on the buckle do the both ends have the same length at the beginning?

Thanks, Doris

Thanks guys. The forst one I made I had some trouble ending it but I read somewhere in a post to put the 4 middle ends through the buckle and then some single cobra knots, and perfect. I started also slightly different as you can see since I wanted to work with a shackle

I finally figured this out! I found a great way to end the bracelet....with out too many crazy knots. After you reach the desired length, pull the center 4 cords (2,4,3,5) through the buckle. Leave 1 and 6 out. Pull your buckle to the desired length + maybe a half an inch or so....flip the loose ends against the inside of the bracelet and throw a couple of cobra knots on there...(like you are doing a regular survival bracelet). That way you have doubled back on your cordage and tucked it in at the same time. Just cut and melt!
I can post pics if ya want!

Thanks, you made my day

I just made my first one. I've been playing with different ways to finish it off so I haven't cut the tails yet. Here it is.

Boise State Colors? Or Florida Gators? Hopefully BSU!

I didn't pick the colors. I made it for someone and told them they could have whatever colors they wanted.

Great work!
Great!!!! I love it!!!!!
Excellent instructable. Incredibly easy and fun to make. Many more project ideas with this as the basic plan
Does this mean it should be 12 times more on each strand or 12 times more then you fold it and it be 6 time more on each strand?

The bracelet was good I just had a couple problems. Your measurements are way off. I ended up wasting about 60 inches off the middle strand and 40 off the ends. The end knot to attach the second clip. Instructions would be nice. From your pic I couldn't really tell how to tie it off.

Great instructions, very easy to follow. This is my first time at paracord. The collar turned out great. Only problem is since this is my first project, saying how to connect second buckle is up to you, has got me lost. I have no idea on what to do. I've been searching the web and coa not find out how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Great design of bracelet!!
