Picture of Windows
Not many people know of this sometimes handy, and pretty well-hidden feature of Windows. And that would be the Godmode folder. Which contains pretty much anything to change your computers settings.

This works on Windows 7, and Windows Vista. I haven't tried it with Windows XP yet, but someone should definitely give it a try!

 Okay, this is pretty simple!

Step 1(Pic 1): make a new folder on your desktop, or wherever you prefer.

Step 2(Pic 2): name the new folder... GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
(Just copy and paste that as the name)

Step 3(Pic 3): click and open your new folder!

Step 4(Pic 4): if your did it correctly, after you click the icon, this window should show up.

Step 2: That's it!

And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Does this work on Windows 7 Starter?
JamesMontour (author)  Pettrocity2 years ago
I believe it should, I have not tested in on 7 starter

This works because both vista and win 7 use something called GUID. Search it up. So this isn't really "god mode" it's just a link to control panel

Does not work on Vista 64. Causes explorer to restart over and over. If you are experiencing this boot to safe mode command prompt. CD to users desktop and remove directory. This is the way... If you have trouble with this (or don’t have another computer) then you can reboot into safe mode command prompt. Then you can change directories to the desktop (cd c:\users\USERNAME\desktop). Then run the following command: rd /s “GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}” Click Y, when asked.

Isn't that just a full listing of the control panel?
JamesMontour (author)  cornboy34 years ago
Yes, and also no. It has the expanded contents of the Control Panel, as well as the Administrative tools, and a few other things.
hooray, thats good.

now i can edit user account control! :) (even if i AM an administrator)
But in windows vista/7 all the administrative tools are listed very deep into the control panel. Here you can just see all the control panel items in a list format

why dosent god mode work in the documents folder?
JamesMontour (author)  Adam-S3 years ago
What do you mean?
i created the god mode folder and named it correctly. i did all this in the 'documents' folder of my vista pc. but when i clicked on it, my explorer crashed and restarted!
Also is doesn't work on xp "windows cannot open this file"
you can right click and explore the folder but it is unpopulated
