what practical use does this stove pose? im not trying to be insulting im questioning how to adapt the proper use of it for say cooking or heating.
This is just a toy. If it were built right it would run like a propane stove.
I think I might take this instructable down tonight until I refine it some more. Any thoughts until then?
This is cool, don't take it down (I was considering a gasification unit on a truck)
Thanks, I'll leave it up. I did add some intake holes on the big can, don't do it! It doesn't burn the same way. That FEMA report link PDF is good reading material; you should make an instructable if you do your truck.
That's what I thought, but the flame sucks into the chamber when I relight it. I think I need to add some intake holes on the the bottom of the big can. Ideally the flame should be burning out of the little holes too I think.

nice effort but the whole design is just wrong. first, you should not put intake holes at the top for two reasons, the thing your are heating (water kettle, pan...) might interfere with the air intake and plug them which might kill your fire due to oxygen depletion and make lots of smoke, carbon monoxide.... second reason, the exhaust gas might feedback into the air intake holes which decrease the oxygen concentration going to your fire which have same effect as the first point. you need to make like half inch holes all around the lower sides of the can with dog pictures on it and more smaller holes on the sides of the small cylinder that contains the wood, cause once you put your fuel(wood, paper,...) you are plugging your intake holes at the bottom and have same effect what I discussed above. just search wood stove on youtube, you will see good designs, some put an electric fan at the bottom to force more air to the fire.
