Introduction: Wooden Bar Stool - Mortise and Tenon Joinery

Hello and Welcome to this Instructables on how I made this wooden bar stool. I have made a full build video which is available to watch on YouTube.

Step 1: Cutting the Wood

The first job was to select the wood and cut it down to appropriate lengths. In this picture you can see the top of the stool. To make this I cut two pieces of Ash and glued them together. In the seat I also used biscuits for added strength. Using the router I added a round on the seat. I also cut the other pieces to rough length.

Step 2: Making the Mortise and Tenon's

In this built there was a mix of straight Mortise and Tenon's and angled ones too. Two sides contains the angled joints while the other two contained the straight ones. I used the band saw to cut the Tenon's and made the mortises with a chisel by hand. Once this was complete it gave me the main structure of the stool. Using the router I rounded over all the pieces and glued them together.

Step 3: Connecting the Seat to the Legs

I drilled 4 holes in the top of the legs and a counter sink hole. I could then screw the legs to the seat.

Step 4: Sanding and Finishing

I then sanded the stool and added some natural bees wax to give the product a light natural look.

Step 5: Thank You for Reading - Remember to Take a Look at the Build Video on Youtube

In this instructables I did not cover every aspect of the build as this would get very complicated and too long. If you want to take a closer look on how I made this stool take a look at the video.
